READING OVERLOAD!!!!!!! *faint*

My goodness, about fifty pages into Eragon now; it's FINALLY picking up, hahah.

I have to admit it. If I start reading a book and it starts to get really bad, I just skip to the end because I have to know what happens. I just don't want to waste the time to figure it out. I am also a homeschool mom of 3. I love it but it leaves little time for myself. One book I wish I hadn't wasted time on was Gregor and the Code of Claw. She started the series really well but it ended really bad. I was reluctant to start any series for a while after that. I hear her Hunger Games books are good but I am not sure if I want to risk it.

But yeah, I'm definitely not about skipping parts! Like Thalia, that makes my brain go AAAAHHHHHHHHH! ;)
And hello Amanda! Nice to meet another homeschooling mom on here! :) I think there's a few of us now.

Today I had a goal: to get through the chapter-after-next which contained the story of Beren and Luthien.
Something about not liking romances?? Yeah, I guess I just want some action in there. (And there's no kissy stuff. None. Zero. And I still liked it. ROFL)
So maybe it turns out I'm just a knight-in-shining-armor sort? Though Luthien certainly wasn't a helpless, forlorn maiden waiting in her lonesome tower. She saved his butt more than once! And all for love. <3 Now THAT is what I'm talkin' 'bout!!!

I have to adm..."
I totally know what you mean...and I have to admit I did that with Fountain Head...it was Atlas Shrugged again, with diff. characters...and I already knew how it would end...so I'll be honest, I did not waste my time!
I have Hunger Games on my list, but my mom is reading it and from what she's saying...it's not generally where I like to go in my books...hurting kids usually just upsets me so I try to stay away...She said she can't put it down, so maybe later...I probably WILL read them...just not yet! :)

Sydney, sounds fun! :D
Only 2/5 of the way done with Eragon...slowly but surely, right? x)

So who's reading Clockwork Angel? I'd love to hear your thoughts when you're finished!

Hmmm..Clockwork Angel is on my list, but I've got some other things to read through first...did you like it?

and I've only 19 to go! Just the section on the Rings of Power and the Third Age... which I'm most excited to read!
But hubby didn't get off work in time to take boys to scouts, except my oldest who was late. Now it's time to cook dinner, so it may be that finishing Silmarillion is all I'll accomplish tonight. Eragon tomorrow I guess. :/
BUT!! I will not sleep til Silmarillion be finished! ;) Kidding me??? 19 pages??? LOL
I've just started Pillars of the Earth and it's a bit of a biggie... whilst I'm glad my dad had it stored on his bookshelf I do wish I had it in eBook form so it'd be lighter to take to work with me - made my cycle yesterday feel rather weighed down, I'm sure my rucksack was groaning!

Congrats Ashley - I do love winning free books :)The last one I received in the mail was a 'soon to be released' copy to review for Waterstones... great feeling getting random parcels ;)
I've finally written down all the books I need to read before I can buy/download any more - it's a long bloomin' list :S I miss Waterstones already:(

Hayley, I love your quote: "great feeling getting random parcels." (And I, too, have a list of all the books I promised myself I would read before buying more. Well, except for that one book that just came out, which I simply must buy . . .)

Congratulations, Ashley! (I've yet to win a free book, but then again, maybe I just need to enter a contest.)

Thanks Daleen -it's so true tho', I didn't know I'd won until I received this random parcel in the post!
Those books - all ones that I've told myself (or been informed) need to be read and I've gone after getting them with great enthusiasm and good intentions - and then just never got round to them, it's terrible! I will stick with it tho', I must for my bookshelf's sake!

And to keep the dust from sticking to them!

Nothing wrong with a bit of dust on a book - adds character (and saves time dusting) ;D The next book I'm really looking forward to getting into (after Pillars) is Game Of Thrones - really hope I enjoy it :D

Hallelujah!
So now I'm reading

woohoo! yay for finishing books and getting free ones in the mail :)
It seems like life has been hectic and I'm not reading nearly as much as I used to! I'm only on page 170 of Hunchback of Notre Dame and I've been reading it for 2 weeks *head desk* I like it better than Les Mis so far.

Unfortunately, it's pretty bad thus far. OTL"
Great Job Thalia...as if there were ever any doubt! :)

Last night I finished The Moonstone, by Wilkie Collins. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, much as I love to read, I am a fairly slow reader, and I seem to have chosen some fairly long books for this challenge! Next I think I will read 101 Things You Didn't Know About Jane Austen. It seems like it should be a quick read, although it is 230 pages of small print.

I need my dusty books to pick up soon. OTL

But on a good note! I see you're putting lots of interesting new books on your TBR list! :) Sorry...maybe the next one will be better...and I know you've got the LotR on your list! You will not be disappointed there! :)

I agree with April - The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are great, and so is Poe! You have those to look forward to!
If you want any recommendations on what Poe to read (or are you going to read the whole thing - it's enormous!?), just ask!

I am going to read the whole thing! We're having a group read of it starting in March, with two short stories per week, I believe. (:

So, how many years will it take you to get through it all at that pace?! LOL!!! ;-)

But if you take it in sips...it'll seem much less daunting!...and it'll be fun to discuss with people on here! :)

Unfortunately though, none of my February challenge reads are dusty books as well, so let's hope my challenge widget doesn't tell me I'm falling behind, hahah.
EDIT:
Nevermind! I decided to up my challenge to twenty dusty books, and random.org actually chose the book I'm reading right now to be one of my dusty books, hahah. Woo hoo for random convienience. (:
I really wish Pillars of the Earth was on my ebook - it's so hefty that putting it in my rucksack for my cycle to & from work every day is pretty unfeasible and even if I do I can't sneak it out whenever I want. I need to make more progress on this book, it's great but most of my reading time during the week was when I had to wait for my work computer to sort itself out!

There is a site, that you can sign up for a free 14 day trial (and get Pillars free) but I don't know how you feel about giving a credit card number (that won't be charged) and then cancelling? But, here's the link if you're interested...I haven't tried it yet, because I hate trying to remember to cancel before my 14 days are up....but it may be worth it to save you some shoulder surgery in the future carrying that lug around! :)

Thanks April - but I already have it in book form so can't justify getting another copy, even if it is free! Plus I'm a bit like you - I hate having to remember to cancel in time, it almost never happens :S
Thanks for thinking of my shoulders though :)
Thanks for thinking of my shoulders though :)

Here is what I've recently finished:
The Martian Child (audio, 2007)
Shark Trouble (audio, 2004)
Bessie (hardcover)
The Book of Pirates (audio, 2004)

But I did just finish a Dean Koontz novel (Watchers). Anyone have any suggestions of another good Koontz novel cause I loved that one.
Also, I'm curious to hear people's opinions about Divergent. I'm about half way done. It comes across to me as a mix of The Hunger Games and The Giver (with a little Fight Club thrown in). I really do love it. Curious to hear other's thoughts about it.
