Anyone interested in writing a fairy tale? We could do something similar to what another group is doing. The other group I know about is doing a regency historical romance. Someone can start it with the obligatory "Once upon a time..." and whoever wants to can add a sentence or two. Maybe limit like 3 sentences per entry. Just let it go wherever it takes us. Let me know and I'll start a thread for it...

It's hard to do, and since it takes me so long to come up with something, it's probably better if I just read as you ladies write. I should be able to keep up with reading!
We need a name for our guy in the story. And also when we get our heroine, she'll need a name....Got any ideas?

The Bottom Line
The confusion between affect and effect comes out of the fact that affecting something leads to an effect. The two questions "How were you affected?" and "What was the effect on you?" mean almost exactly the same thing.
When you want to use one of these words as a noun, the one you want is probably effect. When you want a verb, most of the time you want affect. Effect is used as a verb only when it has a direct object and only when you mean "to bring about, lead to."
The difference between to affect and to effect can be seen here:
To affect the results - To influence, have an impact on the results
To effect the results - To bring about, lead to the (desired) results
