Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Good news, the first copy of my new book http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Trust-ebo... sold it's first copy within an hour of launch.

Weirdly it was in America. The book is set in Lancaster and is all about Primary Care Trusts, patient abuse and the goings on in a former mental hospital. God knows what a reader from abroad will make of it. Still, thanks to whoever it was.

Since then, I've shifted another half dozen and the paperback will be available by the middle of next week.

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Can you believe I forgot how to add a cover image to the book info! Anyway, cracked it so I can stop posting full Amazon links. From now on I shall use proper Goodreads links to refer to The Trust

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Evening gang,

Found a pile of rejection letters from agents today. But among them were several expressing interest. In April 2001 AM Heath and Sheil Land asked to see my debut novel Playground Cool. By the 9th May I'd signed with Sheil Land and thought that the world was mine. I was 24. The world decided it didn't need me telling it what to do and now I work in the NHS.

Kath | 1233 comments Happy Birthday Jamie :)

Now the nicety is out of the way - when's your next book out ?

:p

message 57: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Evening Kath and thanks. Currently 230 pages of New book edited (of about 360) . Aiming to have this draft done by this time next week work and dog allowing. Then the wife will be instructed to read it and I'll do a third and final draft and publish it. So hopefully not long, he says vaguely. It will be announced on here first though most likely.
I've also started Work on the front cover which will be a moody pic of Morecambe Winter Gardens where the body of....oops, nearly gave it away!

message 58: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Whooo - have a good birthday - what's left of it!
Looking forward to the next book. :)

message 59: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments oooo - new book soon (ish) looking forward to that loads :)

message 60: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments any update on new stuff from you Mr Sinclair?

withdrawal symptoms getting out of hand now..........

message 61: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Hi, the day job seems determined to get in the way. Plus I've rewritten quite a bit of the New one. Currently edited about 280 of 375 pages. It's the sequel to the Jazz Cafe so I want it just right. The ideas for the one after that are coming thick and fast too so its just about finding time to crack on.

message 62: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Afternoon folks,

Last day of the month for September Kindle sales. I don't do much promo but a coupl eof sales before midnight wouldn't hurt so spread the word if you would.

The Trust and all my other books are available on Kindle, in paperback, and all other digital formats right now. If crime thrillers with a jazz soundtrack, based on real events, are your thing, then my books are your thing!

Thanks

message 63: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments any news.......?

*fingers crossed*

message 64: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Yes there's news! But not about the sequel. Boo! I've started a cheeky side project. I'm writing and editing a book from the back catalogue called Fear. The plan is to release it via my blog, Wattpad etc in chunks for free, then release as a full novel. First chunk is online already.
As for the sequel...it's very nearly ready and oh so topical. The main plot was practically on the news last week, that was a shock but confirmed I'd picked a good story.
I love that people keep asking and that you are so patient. Means a lot.

message 65: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments I suspect there is some news now... ;)

message 66: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments News indeed! I'll be posting something official on goodreads tomorrow as the promo train leaves the station.

message 67: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Right then folks, as Kath so rightly suspected yesterday I have a new book out! Woo.
Ballroom, Bars and Seawater Baths is out now. It's the sequel (much anticipated?) to The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe which means more Mitch and Rupert, more jazz music, more murder and this time it's all set around Morecambe's famous Winter Gardens. Hang on, there's blurb!!!!

"It is eighteen months since the Midland Hotel burned to the ground. Now the 24 Hour Jazz Cafe stands in its place.
Owner Mitch Johnson is missing, leaving his oldest friend and business partner Rupert Watts to run their new venture.
A woman's purse is found by children playing on the beach. Then a man is brutally murdered in his bathroom. Newly promoted DS Jane Harper must connect the pieces to find a killer.
But when Harper learns that the purse belonged to the wife of the murdered man, and that the missing woman has run away with Mitch, Harper begins to wonder if her consulting detective might actually be the prime suspect.
This thrilling sequel to The 24 Hour Jazz Café pushes Mitch and Rupert to their very limits as they are exposed to a case far wider reaching than anything they have faced previously. Even detective Harper, usually in total control, is floundering as the clues lead nowhere and mistakes are made.
In the end, with Rupert in danger and a lack of options, it is Mitch who is willing to risk everything to see justice done."

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Good news. You can literally Meet The Author! I'll be doing a book signing on 29th March in sunny Morecambe. It will be a joint event with super talented fantasy author Frion Farrell author of The Round Spear. Details forthcoming as I make them up.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I've been to Morecambe once.

It wasn't sunny.

message 70: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Come in march! If it rains I'll buy you a brew and sign a book for you.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And if its sunny you'll buy her a book and sign a brew?

message 72: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Exactly. As long as everyone goes home happy.

message 73: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Paperback version of Ballroom, Bars and Seawater Baths all shiny and ready for the shelves. Thing is, I'm itching to crack on with new book (FEAR) which has got sod all to do with my crime thrillers. I suspect my promotional efforts for this book might lapse as I get into finishing FEAR. Originally written years ago, 1st person confessional, Transworld sniffed round it for months, asked for a few changes, we parted ways. Note - if Transworld want to publish it this time, I'll make any changes they want, to the book, or myself!!

message 74: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Just for info, all the chapter titles are based on the lyrics from the Ian Brown song FEAR. As in Fantastic Expectations, Amazing Revelations.

message 75: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Oh Jamie I'll just miss you! We'll be in Windermere on the 30th March for MIL's 90th birthday celebrations.

Good luck with the paperback release, I really enjoyed reading it.

message 76: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Thanks. Part of me thinks it will be a poorly organised shambles featuring me, my mum and the dog. But I like that I'm giving it a go.

message 77: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments You'll be fighting them off Jamie! Folks love books set in their local area and the fact you appreciate the setting and natives shines through in your work.

message 78: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Ta very much. If it goes well we're planning to do more. Perhaps something in the local library etc. My other big news is that I've forked out for some promo via Kindleboards. It goes out on Monday next week. No idea what to expect but it was pretty cheap so if I get any sales from it then I'll be happy enough.

message 79: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Morning all. The new book will feature on the Kindleboards Bargain Books lists today - Feb 24th. It will go out on their Facebook, Twitter and Blog. Be lovely if everyone spread the word as it's my first attempt at doing something like this with KB.
https://m.facebook.com/kboards.com?id...
http://kboards.blogspot.com/
thanks...

message 80: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Just checked the Kindleboard blog and it's go time! My new book Ballroom, Bars and Seawater Baths is listed right now. Woo! Will it lead to sales? God knows. Is it proactive? Yep. Be nice if you spread the word, coerce folk, cajole them etc. Ta

http://kboards.blogspot.com/

message 81: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Okay, so the Kindleboards promo was a waste of money and led to just 1 sale. Yay! So I'm stepping up my efforts, particularly with an eye on the US market. First job, reviews. I've already submitted a book to a review site. I've also got a promo booked for beginning of April on another site. Bookbub has just rejected me, but I reckon that's lack of reviews etc so I'll try them again once the first stages of the plan are complete. Fingers crossed.

message 82: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Afternoon all, my book The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe is now live on the Story Cartel review site. What does this mean?
FREE BOOKS!!
If you want to read my book for free, dash over to story cartel and download a copy. The only thing you have to do is review it. There's also entry into a prize draw to win one of three $10 Amazon gift cards.
http://storycartel.com/search/?q=jami...

message 83: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments 13 folk have so far signed up to have a free copy of the Jazz Café. Not bad, not enough. I'll persevere. In other news, over 56,000 words of next book written. If things go well, I will post another chunk of it to Wattpad today. If you fancy reading the first few pages, you can.

message 84: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Well, I would, but I've read it.... :)

message 85: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Top work Kath. Now I just need to convert more people.

message 86: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments 23 folk committed to reviewing the jazz café. Not bad, time for a few more yet. But today's news is that I received an email from Neilson who confirmed The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe has been added to their database and will be processed in about 4 weeks. That's step 1 in my 3 step process to get my books into Waterstones.

message 87: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments 30+ folk now signed up to free copies and reviews of The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe. Few more would be nice. It's all happening at Story Cartel.
In other news the book signing is all booked and sorted. We've even ordered posters and a swanky a-board to stick outside. Woo!
Anyway, 10AM. Headway Hotel, Morecambe. Saturday 29th March. Free coffee and cake. We'll be reading, chatting, answering questions, there's a petting zoo and a magician. Or not.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I would offer a magician, but he has a strange aversion to Morecambe...

message 89: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments A lot of folk do, pity as it used to be awesome. Still, filling a town with unemployed, drug addicts fresh from prison does tend to take the shine off a place. Surprising how tourism levels dropped. Anyway, that's an issue to be addressed elsewhere. Such as my books, available now etc etc

message 90: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Good news. Reformatted version of Ballroom, Bars and Seawater Baths paperback has gone off for review at Createspace. So hopefully I'll have my hands on it before the book signing. Otherwise it's just me standing there with an empty table.
More good news, my first crime book The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe is now listed on the Waterstones website. Ooh! That's step two of my three step plan complete. Now I just need an account with Gardners and I can approach Waterstones to stock my books in their shops. Woo.

message 91: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Quick and easy one. For no other reason than I fancied it, my book The Trust will be free from tomorrow (Monday 17th) until Wednesday. It's been out for a while, sold pretty well and got good reviews. If you do grab a copy a review would be great. Spread the word.

message 92: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Woo, new shiny paperback version of Ballroom, Bars and Seawater Baths will be here tomorrow. If I like it I'm placing an order for ten, plus 5 each of all my other books ready for upcoming book signing. Also, for no reason at all, my book The Trust is free right now on Kindle. Just bob over to Amazon and download a copy. Free until Wednesday.

message 93: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Many, many thanks to everyone who has downloaded a free copy of my book The Trust. As of tonight it is the number 1 most downloaded crime/police procedural book on Amazon. Woooooo!

message 94: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments #16 overall is some achievement too. Great going.

message 95: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Been a pretty successful book giveaway for The Trust. Shifted best part of 4000 copies, number one download in UK and, in a fun twist, the book is currently the number 1 most downloaded crime thriller in Germany, courtesy of amazon.De. I wasn't expecting that. By the time I wake up the promo will be over. So huge thanks to everyone who grabbed a copy. If just 10% of you leave a review it will make a huge difference.

message 96: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments So, The Trust, first released early in 2013, is taking off nicely. On the back of the free giveaway I ended up being the most downloaded free crime book in the UK and Germany and was number 3 in the US and top 10 lots of other places. Since it went back to being a proper book with a price tag I've shifted a couple of dozen in the UK just tonight. This is huge for me and it's kept the book in the top 100 (number 53).
So, to everyone who made the effort to get a copy, many thanks, this is why I do what I do.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Patience pays off!

message 98: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments So it would seem. It's still selling and as of this morning climbing the Amazon charts nicely.

message 99: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Sinclair | 939 comments Giddy!!! Book selling really well. Can't quite believe it. Kid at Christmas etc. Top 1000 overall.
