There's only one in the system, so I'd have to go and pick it up.
Thanks Jim, I'll check that out.

This is really a puzzle to me. I can't find the DVD option in the online catalog. Below is all I could find when I enter: "Celtic Legends: Scottish Legends":

Are you using the "Mohawk Valley and Southern Adirondack Library Systems" online catalog?
I go to: http://www.crandalllibrary.org/
and then I click on "Search the Catalog" near the top at the left.
Where do you have to go to pick it up? I pick all my stuff up at the Crandall Library.

Wow! It's amazing how much time and energy that blog owner puts into his blog!

;-)
Seriously, you should see the time some people spend on the Star Trek & Star Wars universe stuff. Funnier still, the arguments they have.

Jackie, I wrote to the library about this.
I suggested that both versions should come up in the same search.
See my email to the library in your regular mailbox. I bcc'd you.
Glad you can pick it up nearby. What great service!

Gee, now I don't feel so guilty about all the time I spend at FunTrivia. :)

Well put, Jim!
I'm saving that in my quote collection under a new category: "Geekiness".
I'll also file it under "Computers" and probably a few other places. LOL

...and all things Middle Earth, Batman, Firefly, etc. To infinity & beyond!
;-)
The Big Bang Theory is one of our favorite shows because they indulge in that sort of behavior. I had a neighbor who turned a room in his basement into a collectible show room for Star Wars stuff. Then he had twin boys. We moved, but I often wonder how his stuff fared.

LOL - I understand! I have my own passions and am just as bad!
But usually there's no one talk with about them.
I found someone years ago at a blog.
Now I can't access her blog because it requires an invitation.
She wrote:

I just found out that there's a new one every year. I saw the first three so far, The Good Witch's Garden (2009) and The Good Witch's Gift (2010). I didn't see The Good Witch's Family (2011) but this Saturday they're all airing on the Hallmark channel starting in the morning, which is when I plan on watching this one. Then later, at 9pm Eastern, the newest one will air, The Good Witch's Charm.
These are wholesome family oriented TV movies and are great for all ages. Not to be missed.

They show "The Good Witches Garden" but it's not available at Netflix yet. It gets put on the member's SAVED list if they want.
Netflix doesn't show any of the others.

Jim, Mockingbird Lane is a proposed drama about The Munsters. NBC decided not to go ahead with the show but will give us the pilot episode. When people said "Why bothering watching it at all then?", they responded by saying if it does well in this one single airing, they will make the series. And they wonder why people are fed up with network TV? I don't hold out any hope that it will become a regular series. The only reason I was interested in it was because of Eddie Izzard's involvement. I'll watch him in anything. Has anyone seen the new Treasure Island mini-series that aired in May? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1820723/ He was fabulous as Long John Silver.

The San Francisco Chronicle headline says:
"Treasure Island' review: Ahoy! Slow pacing ahead."
http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Tr...

Did you know last year he ran 43 marathons in 51 days? It was for some charity, I saw him on Graham Norton talking it about it. It was impressive for a 50 year old.
Treasure Island stayed mostly true to Stevenson's story, which was slow...but good. I prefer an adaptation to be true to the source material than to change it.

Today I finished watching the movie adaptation of We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates via a Netflix DVD.
"We Were the Mulvaneys" (2002)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313769/
http://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/We-Were-...
"In 1976, in the small town of St. Ephraim, N.Y., the Mulvaney clan lived what most people would consider the American Dream. But mum's the word when one year, a tragic incident occurs that the family -- and townspeople -- vow never to mention again. Beau Bridges and Blythe Danner star in this sensitive drama based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates."
Once I got into it, I was riveted. Tammy Blanchard played the young girl, Marianne Mulvaney. She gave a sterling performance. Brought tears to my eyes which doesn't happen often during a movie.
Not all the member reviews at IMDb or Netflix were favorable but the story was engrossing and I was glued to the screen. Dark stories aren't my usual fare but I was curious about this one because the book was by Oates and I probably will never read it. Now at least I have an idea of what it was about.
One of the IMDb member reviews says: "The story is about a family that functions at a high level - as long as there are no bumps in the road. When the family is tested, not every family member has the inner strength or character to keep the family together." I thought the rest of review was good too. It's at: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur1840086/co...

http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

PPS-Jackie, my review (linked above) addresses your feelings about the story. See the end where I quote an IMDb review. Among other things, the reviewer wrote: "I suspect that women from past eras will find this film provoking, and the younger ones will do well to see how much progress has been achieved since. We still have a long way to go, of course."

It's coincidental that this subject comes up, last night I was talking to Eric and his friends about not leaving their drinks unattended in a bar, and it gravitated to date rape and how it was when I was a teenager-young adult. They were astounded and horrified when I told them that women generally didn't report rape because they were made be at fault.

Speaking of unobservant...over the summer Science Channel had a night of programs about the brain and perception. One of them had a segment about how our brains filter out many things it considers unimportant. They had a man make many changes to his appearance while pretending to be a salesman in a store. It was crazy! He had neck brace, then he didn't, he had an eye patch, then he moved it to the other side, he changed hats, shirts and his jacket. Then afterwards he asks the person he was waiting on if he noticed anything out of the ordinary, every one of them said no! When the people thought something must be wrong with them, he told them it was actually quite common. I can't remember the names of the three programs Science Channel aired but they were amazing and informative. I learned a lot that night.

PS-That's why magicians can pull the tricks they do.

Jackie, I don't remember the clown but I think I do remember something about a college campus.
Anyway, I'm glad you've pointed out that talking on the cellphone while driving is NOT like listening to the radio. That's an important point to tell our kids and everyone as well!!!
They should put up public service ads stressing this point!

1. What someone is saying to us
2. What someone is writing to us
That's because the brain pathways are different for each action.
As an example, if I'm on the phone listening to what someone says and someone in the room says something to me, I can only focus one of those statements. However, if the person in the room WRITES his message down and puts it in front of my while I'm listening on the phone, I can process the written words as well as the spoken words at the same time!
I'm sure you've noticed this. I learned it while working in an office. I told my office mates: if they want to say something to me while I'm on the phone, they should write what they have to say on a piece of paper and put it in front of me.

I watched one of them and enjoyed it, so I kept my eye out, also searched on TimeWarner box and found a few. However the 2nd one was just too much, too bland, too something. I gave up on them

I'd never have the opportunity to watch all five movies back-to-back! But I did get to see --and even hear!-- a sizeable portion of the new one last night, and liked what I did experience. (I wouldn't claim that I actually "watched" it as a whole, though.)
Some time ago, I saw part of an episode of Downton Abbey, and regretted that I don't get to see it more often. It impressed me as very much the kind of quality production the BBC is noted for in its dramas!

"Agatha Christie's Poirot" (1989)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094525/
http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Aga...
"David Suchet stars in this mystery series as Agatha Christie's master sleuth Hercule Poirot, who investigates murders and other confounding crimes with the help of the affable Capt. Hastings."
5 stars! Don't know why it took me so long to discover the charming Hercule Poirot as played by David Suchet. I LOVED the mystery and I'm not a fan of mysteries. Will be watching more episodes for sure!
Hope the coming storm doesn't cut me off from Netflix streaming! LOL
At least I'll still have my book, The Titans, by Jakes, to keep me company. ('m still at it!) I'm afraid that my reading time has decreased greatly since I joined FunTrivia. :)

What channel carries it? (Poirot)

Nina, you sent me scurrying for the definition of "clabber". :)

Joy and Jackie, I'm a big fan of David Suchet as Poirot, too (and love the Christie Poirot novels and stories --though there are a lot I haven't read)! But I didn't know that they were still making new ones; I haven't seen any of them on the PBS Mystery! series in years.

Also see the year-links here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094525/
It shows years from 2000 on up and there's a link for before that.
It skips from 2010 to 2013.
Not sure if they've been on PBS.
