Just wanted to say I still plan to read this. I kinda got distracted (and more than a bit pissed off!) by The Three Musketeers.I know, I know, it's a classic piece of history, but I'm in a place in my life where sexism and classism really annoy me.
I'll just keep visions of a young, gorgeous Richard Chamberlain in my head. They even have the first part of him playing The Count (from 1975) on YouTube!

I know, right? I have had a crush on the fabulous Mr. Chamberlain since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. He's in his 70s now and still lovely. This role was simply made for him. I do look forward to reading the book, and it will be twice as much fun since he'll be the image in my mind.
ok, I have now seen two versions of the movie. The 1975 version with Richard Chamberlain followed the book more but the 2002 version with James Caviezel was better in my opinion. If I had not read the book the 1975 version would have made no sense to me. The 2002 version didn't stay very true to the book at all but it made more sense.
Ah! Interesting, Pamela. I had read the book when I watched the '75 version, maybe that is why I loved it. Of course, I have loved all movie versions of this epic.
Ladies, I got stuck on this one and I can't seem to pick it back up. There are just so many books on my TBR. I do hope I can get back to it someday.Pamela way to go on finishing!
lol. I admit it was tough. But I also admit that if I hadn't started listening to it on librivox I wouldn't have been able to finish it myself.
Here is my goodreads review. I couldn't have done it without you cheering me on, Pamela. ☺ I just realized that the end date for this was set for April 15 and I finished three days ahead of time. I thought I was way, way behind. Now I feel better.
