Christine | 850 comments I'm about halfway through Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth and still not sure how I feel about it. Although, it has sucked me in enough that I had to make myself put it down to go to sleep last night.

Dawn (dawnv) Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ wrote: "Currently reading Darkness Unbound (Dark Angels, #1) by Keri Arthur"

How is that one?

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments @Dawn: Darkness rising is continuation of the world she created for Riley Jenson Guardian series. The first book was ok, like 3.5 stars maybe. Risa has little battle training so it's not fair to expect a kick-ass heroine like Riley (even if I did). The battle is taking place in another plain so to speak so there is less cool spy gadgets from the Directorate and change of locale. It felt a bit like setting the stage, the intrigue and conspiracy less thick so I am hoping that Darkness Rising evolves more. I'm a bit too much of a half empty cup mentality so it was not Keri Arthur's best offering.

Happy to have discovered these re-reads on iTunes, Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh was really really good in audio.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments Enjoy Camp Hell, Regina, that one's my favourite.

Read The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams which is disturbing, probably more so if you're a mother. Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes was a mix of Buffy, X-Men and Blade with a very sad ending.

I'm in need of a happy ending after those sad books.

message 164: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Thanks Ames, I am trying to savor this series! Although I hear JCP is writing a PsyCop book right now.

Christine | 850 comments I finished Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth which I enjoyed, but now kind of wished I had waited until the next one was out.

And I finished Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson #3) by Darynda Jones . I'll admit to some tears near the end, but never fear, it all works out and I was happy with how the book ended.

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I just finished Carrier of the Mark (Carrier Trilogy, #1) by Leigh Fallon , which was sadly exactly what many of the reviews sad it was, a book really, really similar to Twilight.

I am now trying to read two books Working for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine I DNF'd that were given to me to read as a challenge for February. So far, I'm liking them better this time around.

message 173: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I enjoyed Ill Wind when I read it. It took me 2 years to get to it and then I was surprised at how long I let it sit, b/c I liked it so much more than I expected to.

I just finished it last night and it wasn't as bad as I originally thought it was. I was a little turned off by the fact that it was only 5 chapters though. I will probably seriously consider reading book 2 eventually.

I loved the Shadow Reader, hopefully it works out better for you than Hunting Season.

I am finally getting around to reading Aftermath (Sirantha Jax, #5) by Ann Aguirre , which is going good so far. Just finished Blood Rights (House of Comarré, #1) by Kristen Painter , which had good and bad points.

I'm not a huge fan of this series, but I did think those last three books were the best in the series and did a lot to redeem Riley for me.
