I don't usually read anthologies either, but I might try it

Josie | 1967 comments I've just finished Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling, #5) by Nalini Singh and liked it more than I thought I would. I really wanted to start the next one Branded by Fire (Psy-Changeling, #6) by Nalini Singh so I did, even though I need to read the ones from the library first. These include Die For Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum Bloodlines by Richelle Mead Matched (Matched, #1) by Ally Condie Dark Life (Dark Life, #1) by Kat Falls Genesis by Bernard Beckett and have to be back very soon :/

Annnd I started listening to Storm Front (The Dresden Files, #1) by Jim Butcher today which I'm liking. I tried to read the book a while ago but stopped so this is working much better! (On a different but slightly related note I've also started watching all the Buffy series since I watched some of them when it was on TV but not every episode - I was only like 10 at the time)

message 107: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol, yeeaaahhh...
In my defence though I haven't actually started the ones from the library yet! Although then again, I didn't mention any of my already "currently reading" books A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning Devil's Bride (Cynster, #1) by Stephanie Laurens . Oops ;)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Sure....I had A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin in my ''currently reading'' shelf for months because I would only listen to the audiobook with my hubby (we both wanted to see how much the tv series compared).

We have started the second book at the beginning of January...I just hope we can finish it before the tv series starts back again.

message 109: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol, good luck with it! :)

message 110: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I finished Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken . It was okay, but really only a three star read for me. But I like the humorous nature of it enough to check out others in the series. But first, I started Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10) by Lara Adrian . Chase's book, Finally!!

Sorry about your day! Books will help but you might add a little chocolate or your favorite ice cream!

Have you read her adult series that this is spun-off from? It's pretty good, too.

I heard the audio of GoT is not that great, but I could be wrong. The book itself is amazing though.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments @Christine: I haven't read her adult series yet but it's on the list.

@Regina: I read A Room With A View in high school. We also watched the movie. I still remember the gasps at the male nudity.

I recommend Cooke's adult series. The characters in it are the parents of the characters in the YA series. Plus you get some background information that has to do with Zoe and Nicholas.

message 119: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 87 comments I admire everyone who can do audio books. I've tried and for some reason they just don't work for me. I guess I just need the feel of a book or ereader in my hands.
I just finished Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane it was good.
Now I'm working on Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price only thirty pages in but really liking the writing so far.
I've got Deja Demon The Days and Nights of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom (Kate Connor - Demon Hunter, #4) by Julie Kenner Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre Even Vampires Get the Blues (Dark Ones, #4) by Katie MacAlister Belong To Me (Wicked Lovers, #5) by Shayla Black still waiting in the wings trying to get them read to finish off some challenges but running out of time so we'll see how it goes.

message 120: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I just finished Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk last night and loved it. So while I'm eagerly awaiting for the next book to come from the library, I am reading Darkness Rising (Dark Angels, #2) by Keri Arthur which I'm excited about because I love Risa and this world.

That's good because I was a bit confused about the prophecy surrounding them.

I found the Allie Beckstrom series one of my favourites -- I love uf where there is actually a cost or tradeoff to doing magic. The first few books just keep getting better, so you have something good to look forward to!

message 123: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments That's good to hear Leah Thanks! I actually tried the series a couple of years ago and couldn't get into it, but this time I ate it up. I've done that recently with a couple of other series too. Maybe I just wasn't feeling the UF in early 2010 like I am now, but I definitely am not at a loss for things to read now.

Ames, I re-read Room with a View, I had read it in HS, but it meant so much more to me now. My book club met last night to discuss it and we watched the move - -we laughed so darned hard during that scene.

message 134: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Good to know, Ames! Really want to read that soon :)

I've been on some random books recently, stuff that I usually don't read. Finished The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn and onto The Bride (Lairds' Fiancées, #1) by Julie Garwood - I must be feeling romantic lol

message 135: by Gin (new)

Listening to Masques (Sianim, #1 - Aralorn, #1) by Patricia Briggs for a while now

message 136: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I loved Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10) by Lara Adrian and can't wait to see where she takes the series next, now that we have a little hint about the origins of the Breedmates. I also finished The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa which I enjoyed as much, if not more than, the first in the series.

message 137: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 87 comments It's a new month and a new set of challenges. I'm starting with these books.
Laid Bare (Brown Siblings, #1) by Lauren Dane Kiss & Hell (Hell, #1) by Dakota Cassidy Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Hell's Revenge (Princess of Hell, #3) by Eve Langlais Shadow Kin (The Half-Light City, #1) by M.J. Scott
It's a bit much to start but I can't figure out what I want so I'm giving my self a few options.

Lis | 4037 comments Christine wrote: "I loved Darker After Midnight (Midnight Breed, #10) by Lara Adrian and can't wait to see where she takes the series next, now that we have a little hint about the origins of the Breedmates...."

I did too. After being a little disappointed in the previous one Deeper Than Midnight (Midnight Breed, #9) by Lara Adrian , this one was great. I read somewhere that this one was suppose to be the end of the series, but she got a contract for an additional three.

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments Lis wrote: "How are you liking the Dark Angel series so far Valerie?"

It is not as good as the Riley Jensen series. Risa is not as wolfie as her Aunt Riley. Risa has little battle training so it's not fair to expect a kick-ass heroine like Riley (even if I did). The intrigue and conspiracy is less thick, the action mostly takes place in Melbourne so there is less a range of locale.

It is not fair to compare the two...but I like the characters and want to know where the series will go. I would borrow it if I were you.

message 140: by Kerstin (new)

Kerstin | 862 comments Finished Picnic At Hanging Rock (Popular Penguin) by Joan Lindsay which was ok, but not quite what I expected.

Started reading Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne . A fun read so far.

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Starting Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill , although I kinda don't want to. I love this series, but I'm so torn up about what happened in the last book that reading this is already hard and I'm only on chapter 3.

Also starting Daybreak (Dark Age Dawning, #3) by Ellen Connor and Changeless (Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments I finished Kiss of Frost (Mythos Academy, #2) by Jennifer Estep . I thought it was great. Can't wait for Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3) by Jennifer Estep .

Just started Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs . *sighs* I should've re-read Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs first. I think I completely forgot part of the book. I don't have a clue what they're talking about. Whoops.

message 146: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I am totally sticking with Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill despite my hesitation. Thanks Becky and Alyssa! I'll let you ladies know when I'm done.

message 147: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I am on #5 of the Georgina Kincaid series, I am just loving it Succubus Shadows (Georgina Kincaid, #5) by Richelle Mead -- I have been listening to them back to back. Just loving it.

I am reading The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton which is not a series or paranormal at all but I am loving it. :)

@Alyssa Briggs is a favorite of mine. Maybe skim Iron Kissed? Here is the short version of what happened (view spoiler) Hope that helps!

message 148: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments Lis wrote: "I did too. After being a little disappointed in the previous one Deeper Than Midnight (Midnight Breed, #9) by Lara Adrian ."

I agree. There was just something missing from Hunter's story. I'm so glad Chase's book turned out well. And yeah to three more books!

message 149: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (lyssad87) | 974 comments Thanks, Regina! :-D

I guess I didn't really remember that it was all related. (view spoiler)

I would flip through it again, but I got it from the library last time, I don't actually own it.

message 150: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Oh my god...so I just finished Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5) by Chloe Neill because I couldn't put it down. Now I'm kinda mad I didn't read it as soon as I finished Hard Bitten. Holy cow. Thanks Becky and Alyssa for pushing me to read it first.
