Same! I'm half way through. I recently finished

Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston, 3 stars."

I wasn't too crazy about Pack Challenge, but I really enjoyed the last two in the trilogy. Miki and Angela were great.

It's obvious you like Jim Butcher Barbara but have you read the Dresden Files? I have read a few of those and really enjoyed them.

I really liked the Maximum series Valarie even though they are very YA they are pleasant and comfy. Does that make sense? I felt like I was with a good friend.

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments That was the first gargoyle books I'd read, Gin. I enjoyed it and you've reminded me that I need to finish that series. :) Hope you enjoy it!

I finished Love Is Mortal (Valerie Dearborn #3) by Caroline Hanson , which I didn't realize was the final book b/c I didn't know it was a trilogy (BLAST!) and just started Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison .

message 1319: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

message 1320: by Josie (last edited Dec 15, 2012 03:45AM) (new)

Josie | 1967 comments @Steph: I didn't realise it was a trilogy either - did you like it though? At least I can read #2 and #3 together now (I think you were the one that warned of a cliffhanger at the end of Love is Fear) but I see the last one has a bit of a lower rating, intrigued by what could have caused that.

message 1321: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 1179 comments Finished Trust in Me (Dark Erotica, #2) by Skye Warren for any of you that liked the Dark Duet I recommend reading this one too!

Now I'm reading Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 1322: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Thanks, Sandra. Haven't had much time to read since I started it. Okay so far, just a lot of descriptions of her "keepers". ;)

Josie, I really enjoyed the books! I like her writing, for the most part, although she does have a tendency to repeat herself (even within a single paragraph); she'll just say the same thing differently. But, if you can get past that, her writing it kinda dark, which I like. This one the characters went through some pretty twisted stuff, which was fun (for the reader anyway). Not sure I'm thrilled about how the characters ended up and there were several "what happened to ..." questions at the end. But, she mentioned more to come in that world, so I'm hopefully those will be answered eventually.

message 1323: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Thanks, Steph! I'm going to try to read the last two over Christmas - if I remember what happened in the first, it feels like forever!

It is really interesting. The theory and the mode of questioning is already up my alley. I am interested in the researchers these authors criticize (evolutionary psychologists). I may look for their books next.

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments LOL! Reading books before you gift them ... why didn't I ever do that?! I saw that movie and thought it was really cute.

I'm reading Savage Betrayal (Savage, #2) by Shelli Stevens and re-reading The Siren (The Original Sinners, #1) by Tiffany Reisz w/AH.

If anyone would like to join us for a re/read of SIREN, please feel free to join us here.

Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta The Hallowed Ones (The Hallowed Ones, #1) by Laura Bickle

And doing a re-read by listening to Summer Knight (The Dresden Files, #4) by Jim Butcher

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day which is actually quite decent. IT's like Fifty Shades of Gray without the laughably bad writing. Too bad that one got famous.

message 1337: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments 'How to Train Your Dragon' the film was so cute!

@Regina: I'm only up to (actually currently listening to) #6 in the Dresden Files but I have to say that Summer Knight has been my fave so far. I've gotta keep going with them though!

Probably going to read Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost now after finishing One Grave at a Time which I hate to say dragged a bit for me.

That I can do. Most of my books look brand new, even after I've read them. ;) As long as hubby doesn't get his mitts on my PB, they stay that way.

message 1343: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments @Regina: GTK! Hopefully by this time next year I would've caught up with that series :)

I once got a book back from someone who'd borrowed it - well it was unrecognisable! Ripped, bent, worn and it was like brand new before!

That's sad and rude at the same time.

I'm always very careful when I borrow books, as I'm sure you are too Josie. Betcha that loser isn't on your lend list anymore :D

Yay! Cady! I'm anxious for #3. And, because of those books, I now wish I could adopt a hedgehog. LOL! But, seriously ... look at this adorable baby!

(view spoiler)

message 1348: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I am ;) and she is certainly not being lent anymore books! I feel I'm quite a laid back person and I'm not too anal about my books because I get a lot of second hand ones but I would never have given back a book in that condition (especially as it was new!) - if I'd been in her situation, I would have bought a new copy! Tsk some people.

message 1349: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Me too, Josie. I certainly wouldn't have returned it in worse condition that I rec'd it. If you wanna crack spines and ruin the book, buy your own and treat it how ya like. That's just rude.

message 1350: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Steph, just adorable!!!!

I would've replaced it as well, Josie, but then I wouldn't have let it get in that state to start with. I don't have kids or pets though, which might have contributed.
