Sandra | 25908 comments Thanks Regina :D

Just finished The Time Of My Life by Patrick Swayze and whilst biography isn't my thing, it was very insightful. Had no idea Patrick Swayze started out as gymnast/ballet dancer/singer/musician.

I started it last night because of what you said and I'm nearly finished. It is such a strange book! But I do really like it :D

message 1240: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I've been making my way through an old favorite Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury . I realize Bradbury's writing in this one is not for everyone, but I love it so much. And listening to it narrated by Stefan Rudnicki is amazing.

A few favorite lines so far:
"God, how we get our fingers in each others clay. That's friendship, each playing the potter to see what shape we can make of the other."

"But no man's a hero to himself. I've lived with me a lifetime, Will. I know everything worth knowing about myself."

Josie | 1967 comments Regina wrote: "It is so different. I am glad you like it. :) I had such fun with it."

I finished it - it was a weird, fun book! I'm intrigued with what she's going to do with the next two books and who the main characters will be, although they're not on GR yet.

message 1242: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Me too! She has a novella coming out in an anthology later this year. I really like how she writes stories completely outside the normal framework of fantasy.

message 1243: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments I know, I don't know how she comes up with her ideas! She has also said she's doing another UF book, can't wait to see what that's going to be about!

message 1244: by Regina (new)

Well, Josie, I finished Hexbound (The Dark Elite, #2) by Chloe Neill last night and gave it 3.5 stars. Overall I enjoyed it, but it seemed like a slow start, lots of questions to be answered in later books, like ususal. Very PG as all the stars are only just 16. Ah, young love :D

message 1246: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol, thanks Sandra! I find I have to be in a certain mood to read YA but I will try to read it soon especially as you enjoyed it :)

I just started listening to This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost but I don't know if I can continue. Bones' "voice" is... terrible. She's fine/quite good at Cat and the general narration but Bones sounds like he's The Wicked Witch. In my head, he's shrunk about a foot. Waaahhhhhh!

message 1247: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Currently finishing up Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning . Also read The Renfield Syndrome (Rhiannon's Law, #2) by J.A. Saare and The Ripple Effect (Rhiannon's Law, #3) by J.A. Saare .

Also read a freebie, hook ya, then had to buy the rest of the non PNR/UF book Safe With Me (Safe with Me, #1) by Shaina Richmond to find out what happens...

Did a re-listen of Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning because I forgot soooo much stuff... Also downloaded Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning in audio for a re-listen.

Will probably go with Lord's Fall (Elder Races, #5) by Thea Harrison next...

message 1248: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Josie, I agree. The audio is really good for Night Huntress for everyone BUT Bones.

message 1249: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments That's very sad Josie. Bones was made to be read by James Marsters!

message 1250: by D.G. (new)

I've stalled on that series and decided to try it in audio to see if I could continue that way but after listening to the voice for Bones, I couldn't continue either. I need my men to sound manly in audio...and if a man is sexy, he's supposed to sound sexy too! Even in real life, if a handsome guy has a squeaky voice, it would shatter the illusion right there and then.
