Currently Reading 2012
I too like Oscar Wilde, read some when I was at school & liked it so much I absconded with the book. LOLAnd Dana, so agree about Dickens. I personally can't stand him, though don't mind all the shows made of A Christmas Carol. Melville I've never tried, but I'll take your word for it.
I absconded with quite a few school books which I still have on my shelves. I like Oscar Wilde, there are loads of quotes by him I love. I liked reading A Christmas Carol, The Signalman was boring and I'm not interested in his other stuff.
Enjoyed reading
but I forgot it's too early to go in the Dragon challenge -oops. But it's a perfect read for 2012. Post-apocalyptic goodness.
Doesn't look like much but it's an awesome free Kindle book written in verse.
Read the Kitty story and the one from Holly Black.
Yep, I've still got my Oscar Wilde, it was the plays I think, still remember The Importance of Being Ernest. LOL
LOL @ Ames, I don't know how many books I've picked up to read & realised it was a dragon book so had to put it back, must be 5 or 6 I reckon, bring on 23 Jan.

early too. Just downloaded
as a replacement.
Sandra wrote: "Yep, I've still got my Oscar Wilde, it was the plays I think, still remember The Importance of Being Ernest. LOL"I remember that one, too. Read it and watched two movie versions of it.
I read A Christmas Carol last year and loved it. Way better than all the movies I've seen.I've read The Importance of Being Earnest in Spanish and really liked it. Maybe I should read it in English one of these days. :)
Finally I finished
and I would have been happy if the characters had fallen off a cliff. I hated them all (except the kids.)Now I just started
and I'm listening to
.

D.G., sounds like the book lived up to it's name? [book:Nothing Ever Happens|10432047]
Other friends have had the same reaction as you, so I'll be passing :)

LOL, Sandra. You're the second person who's asked me that question.
Actualy, a LOT happens in the book, it's just that the characters are not people you feel like rooting for.
I switched gears and stopped Succubus on Top and started instead
. So far so good. :)I'm also finally finishing Scandalous Desires and I'm completely underwhelmed. I'm thinking that unless something happens, this will be my last Hoyt.
Has anyone read
? If so can you tell me who the mysterious woman with black and grey hair who kept popping up to help them was? I felt like I should know, but I couldn't figure it out.
Went on a bit of a romance binge and read
I enjoyed that last one the most. I recommend it. :D
I'll probably read
next.
DG were you reading or listening to Succubus on Top, what made you stop? Ames I was going to ask you how you liked the Jennifer Ashley book. Glad you liked it!
I am reading
and listening to
Regina wrote: "DG were you reading or listening to Succubus on Top, what made you stop? "I was reading it. It wasn't any problem with the book, it was just that I started listening to Hunting Ground and I don't like to listen and read to similar genres at the same time. The funny thing was that I listened to an hour of Hunting Ground and decided to stop (the narration wasn't bad but I was having problems concentrating.)
I'm reading two different books for not always the good reasons.
because I needed a purple cover. I managed to not be annoyed by the comic relief so far.
because I really want to read it.

and I think it's better than the first.
I just finished
and really liked it a lot.Christine, good to know, I'll be waiting for the MMP, I've preordered it :)
I've read yet more romancey books
. The first one was the best and the last the worst. Palate cleansed. I need something a bit meatier now.
I might try
next since it's overdue back at the library. Oops.
I finished
, which was really good, though not my favourite of the series and
which was ok, but a bit monotonous at times.Just started
I'm reading
And the warded man by peter brett, I've read probably 10 books so far this year I'm a book junkie!lol but I'm sure everyone on GR is so no biggie!
I don't know Tim, you have read more books (pages wise) than me. I`m not a fast reader. The world building of the The Warded Man is different. I really liked sequel, the The Desert Spear too.
I also just finished
and think this was my favorite so far. The mysteries aren't all that mysterious, as I felt like I was a step ahead of Eve most of the time, but I still really enjoy reading about these characters. And I still love Roarke. Next, I think I just might finally start
Reading
and
. Finished
which was good, and suckered into a kindle recommendation
.Getting into the Vampire Huntress series by listening to
.
I couldn't put
down. It was physically painful to do so just to make dinner. Really enjoyed it.Finding it difficult to read
but
is a little easier.
I finished
and really liked it almost against my will. Then I read
which is the first YA book I've honestly ever enjoyed. Then was
. I enjoyed Hunter's story, but can't wait for Chase's book tomorrow!!! Until then I've started
. I'm not quite feeling the chemistry, but it's growing on me and I enjoy some of the humor.
Christine wrote: "I finished

I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I'm just calling it a day for tonight. But I'm so tempted to continue!Sigh...
Just finished
, rated it three stars. Characters were OK, but I just found I wasn't very invested into the plotline. Think I might skip out on the rest of the series...
I just finished
for our dragon challenge, among others, of course. Loved it, but not so much for our H/h, who were good but not great, but all the other characters, who are like old friends.
Christine wrote: "I finished

Christine wrote: "I finished

I just did a "buddy read" on it (in December?) and everyone felt the same way. Lachlain has that effect on most females. LOL!

I'm hoping to get back to this series once I wrap up some other reads for challenges. I can't wait to get to the rest.

I need try this one. Isn't it second in a series though?

Technically, yes, it's #2. But the first
is a prequel released as an ebook after A Hunger Like no Other was published. Since I don't have an e-reader I skipped it. I don't think I missed anything, but if I ever get an ereader, I will go back and check it out. I think you can get it for only 1.99 on Amazon
It was first published in the anthology
so you might be able to pick that up at your library. It is Myst & Nicolai Wroth's story, and quite good.

Thanks for that info, Sandra. I'll have to look for that. I don't usually care for the stories in anthologies, but everyone has said this one is worth the read.

A couple favorites so far:
"I choose my friends for their good looks, my acquaintances for their good characters, and my enemies for their good intellects."
"Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter."
I think he is brilliant. His writing is so different from the YA books I usually read. It takes some getting used to so I am reading it along with others through out the month.
