That's a good idea. I'm on a pretty good roll so far this month reading a book a day or so. I should be able to fit a freebie in. I really wish the Kindle Fire had collections like the original Kindles do. It would make looking at my book list a tad less overwhelming.

Girl, I hear ya! Same here. But, I just decided to go for it, least for one month (if I can bear it).

WOW! Great deal!

Christine | 850 comments I finished Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane and I loved every minute of it. It's so dark and gritty and Chess is do messed up, but there is such a casual elegance to the writing that I was completely sucked in.

message 854: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Christine I am so glad you liked it -- I agree with everything you wrote about it. ;)

I finished the audio of Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna, #1) by Kendare Blake and the narration was really bad. I am not sure how it affected my enjoyment of the story.

I finished Whispers Under Ground (Peter Grant #3) by Ben Aaronovitch and I continue to love this series.

I am reading/listening to now: Heart of Stone by C.E. Murphy

Lol, I started it too soon for Bingo. I have only 1/4 read to remind me how many 'smart villains' are in this series. For a PNR book, the worldbuilding is something. I'll get back to it after the shifter shelf book.

I started it once, but just couldn't get into it. Not sure if it was me or the book though.

I've had it on the stack to read ever since I read her Walker Papers series (Urban Shaman). But sadly, something else always gets in the way. Have you read the other series? I'm curious how they compare.

message 861: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Christine I haven't read her others. Did you like her other series?

Paris interesting. It grabbed me right away.

It was probably just me. That happens sometimes where I'm just not in the mood I guess. I usually will try twice with a book (at least a few months apart) and then after the second time if I can't get into it then it's forever on the DNF shelf. Most of the time it takes me awhile to get to the second chance since there are sooooo many books on my TBR list.

Shy The WidowMaker (booklovingmama) | 127 comments I'm reading Dark Kiss (Nightwatchers, #1) by Michelle Rowen

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Also I am listening. So maybe that makes a difference.

I do like the Walker Papers. It's not a Wow! series that blows me a way, but they're nice solid reads. And the heroine has a good sense of humor, which I always enjoy.

message 866: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments Very good to know! I do keep hearing about that series.

I'm reading this book for the shifters shelf, too!

I liked how it's sort of a continuation of what happened in book 10 (not switching completely to something else.)

I listened to it a few years back in audio. I liked the idea of a gargoyle hero, but the romance moves at a slow pace. It reads like a paranormal mafia series with vampires, djinn, etc.

message 871: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Paranormal mafia ~ sounds cool

message 872: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments It is! And Lis, you are so right. It is very slow building, but I am liking it. I may get frustrated. :) I think the narrator is really good.

Also read Love Slave for Two (Love Slave for Two, #1) by Tymber Dalton and Family Matters (Love Slave for Two, #2) by Tymber Dalton
Listened to A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness and starting Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness in audio
Currently reading Blood Bound (Unbound, #1) by Rachel Vincent and still slowly getting thru Darkness Devours (Dark Angels, #3) by Keri Arthur

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Wow, you must be a super fast reader Lis! What's a Discovery of Witches like? I've got the book and it looks like a hefty one.

message 875: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Bingo always makes me read more. DoW was Ok, but the audio was cheap last month so I grabbed it. It's a good storyline but IMO there's a lot of academia talk and other fluff that makes it a little heftier than needed. Left off with a little cliffhanger so I'm going to continue on with hefty#2...

message 876: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I have the audio of DoW waiting for me. Did you like The narrator?

Lis | 4037 comments Steph wrote: "What'd ya think of Tymber's menage, Lis? I need to read #3."
I liked it, of course the first one had me sucked into the storyline. Just be prepared for much much drama, these were surprisingly good beyond the steaminess you'd expect to find.

Regina wrote: "I have the audio of DoW waiting for me. Did you like The narrator?"

Actually the narrator wasn't bad. There are a few different accents for all the vampire characters. I just downloaded the 2nd which is 24hrs+, very long listens.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Lis, I LOVED Love Slave for Two: Beginnings and Love Slave for Two, but still have Family Matters TBR. Have you read #1 or maybe it's the prequel? "Beginnings"? I believe it was written after "for two", but is more of a look at the boys and how they met. I'm definitely reading "Family Matters" soon, you've got me missin' the boys now. ;)

Valerie ~ Val Hall ~ | 9661 comments I remember reading the Nikki & Michael series and jumping onto the Riley Jensen series. I loved it and don't care to think how many times I re-read those books. I liked all the little gizmos and little evil creatures...

message 889: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments I've never been able to get the Nikki & Michael series, but it's being re-released in the US in Oct, yay!

message 890: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I bought the N&M series while in Australia. I liked it. It was funny reading one of her first series after reading Riley. You will notice a difference in her writing b/c it's not as well-done (maybe not the right word - maybe she didn't have the same confidence at the time; not sure) as Riley, IMO. But, I really liked their story (Nikki & Michael).

Have either of you read her Ripple Creek Werewolves Duology? Beneath a Rising Moon (Ripple Creek Werewolf, #1) by Keri Arthur Beneath a Darkening Moon (Ripple Creek Werewolf, # 2) by Keri Arthur I bought those in AU also. Looks like they're being re-released later this year. I liked those too.

I've read all of Keri's books except for the Damask Circle and Spook Squad ones. I just found out that my library has them though so I've got plans to read them. It is weird to read her earlier stuff after the Riley series. But I've enjoyed everything I've read of hers except Mercy Burns which is the second book in the Myth and Magic series.

message 892: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Same here - I haven't read DC or SS either. Strangely, out of them all, I rated M&M the lowest. Not that 3★ is a poor rating, but I was surprised I didn't like those more than I did. Dragon shifters are wicked, but I think I was expecting something more similar to Riley. Dunno. I have only just started her Dark Angels spin-off and I'm enjoying it. But, still miss Riley most of all.

Riley definitely is the best. I love that we get to see her a little in the Dark Angels series. Would love more Riley books, but if not then cameos will do the trick.

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Just finished Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4) by Nalini Singh . I'm moving right through these Psy-Changeling books. I'm really glad someone picked it for me for a Pick For Me challenge.

Now on to Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling, #5) by Nalini Singh while I also try to fit in Dreamless (Starcrossed, #2) by Josephine Angelini or Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione before the next bingo shelf is called.
