1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. At 435 pages in..I proceeded to lose interest. This book is a time travel book which reminded me of Jude Deveraux's Knight in Shining Armor. I thought it would be more of an adventure but it really turned into a romance genre book and that is not usually my reading preference. Why did Claire stay and not go back to her husband in 1945? Apparently, she could not bear to leave Jamie (from the early 1700's) but what were her reasons that she did not return to Frank? I persevered and read this for my school (staff) book group. Not interested in reading any others by this author! And I don't really care if the saga continues on........which I am sure it does.
2. The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. A shorter read and very enjoyable! I was sucked into the plot!
10. The Color Purple by Alice Walker. I enjoyed the book. Through ALL the physical and emotional abuse suffered by women in this story they remain strong female characters. How could they not dislike men and have strong bonds with other women?
Nancy (Colorado) wrote: "14. 1Q84by Haruki Murakami"Hi Nancy, I came across this book on a GR list for top fiction books. It looked different and I considered putting on my TBR list. Just curious, what did you think?
I liked it quite a bit but it was long at 999 pagesJulia wrote: "Nancy (Colorado) wrote: "14. 1Q84by Haruki Murakami"

21. A Week in Summer: A Short Story by Maeve Binchy
25. The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen26. Me & Emma by Elizabeth Flock
27. The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe
30. Mockingbird by Katherine Erskine. A great YA read about a girl with Aspbergers. We have 2 Autism classes at are school and I have had the pleasure working with students on the spectrum. Well written!!

I need to do a reread on this one of these days. I agree it is a wonderful book, but I haven't visited it for probably 20 years.

43. Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult. I gave this read three stars. It was hard to connect with characters in this book- maybe too many subplots. Also, I had net Timothy Treadwell, the man who lived with and was ultimately killed by bears so my mind made some weird connections.
