Sylvia (sylviahartstra) My last book for 2012 What Is the What about Valentino Achak Deng, who survived the war in Sudan as a child and lived in a refugee camp in Kenya for more than ten years.

Yrinsyde | 208 comments I have still 5 to go but I am giving myself the first week of January (until I go back to work on the 7th) to finish. I finished The God who Begat a Jackal today - an enchanted fairytale-like story set in medieval Ethiopia. My review is here. I also finished Death on the Nile, a Christie favourite which I first read when I was a teen. My brief review (with no spoilers) is here. My next read is another Christie, this time set in Iran.

Yrinsyde, what's your next Christie read? I also love her and I don't think I ever read her book in Iran. I want to look it up.

Yrinsyde | 208 comments I meant Iraq Barbarac - whoops! The novel is called They Came to Baghdad and it is a spy story - exciting so far!

Shomeret | 520 comments I was wrong a second time. I did finish another book for the 2012 challenge on the morning of December 31st. It was so amazing that I could not put it down. So I managed to read 48 out of 52.

I am so glad that I did decide to read Endangeredby Eliot Schrefer. It's extraordinary. It's about the Congo, it's about apes and it's about a very courageous fourteen year old girl. I consider it my best read of 2012.
