Don, I saw the you read the Historian. Your description of the writing seems similar to the Swan Thief. Maybe her writing has progressed though because the switches in time were pretty smooth from my memory.

Call of the Wild and White Fang are two of my husband's favorite books. They're both on my TBR but I have yet to get to them.
