Considering that my main characters are telling the story in first person, it's difficult not to have at least some of me bleed through. So I'd say they reflect me a little, with a bit of a nudge toward a lot. But only a bit.
My characters allow me to share perspectives I might not otherwise say or to take positions that aren't necessarily my own. Play the devil's advocate. Or perhaps take an opinion to the extreme.
I can't recall who said it, but I think the best way to explain it is that I am in all of my characters, but none of them are me.
