Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Sorry to hear that it didn't measure up, Jyl22075. I will agree with you that it didn't have the same magic as Anna, but I liked it as it seemed to have its feet more in the real world. We just have a year plus to wait onIsla and the Happily Ever After.

I loved both books. Hope you enjoy them too!

taita | 188 comments Started Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert for the second time and still could not finish it. Putting it aside again.

Finished the Buddy Read of The Other Guy's Bride (Braxton, #2) by Connie Brockway . Really enjoyed it.

Finishing up To Taste Temptation (Legend of the Four Soldiers, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt on audio. This book is hot, hot, hot!

Going to start Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks and The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Pink Carnation, #1) by Lauren Willig .

I agree with you. Hate when they use the same guy for a series like this:

In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks

He's gorgeous and all but are the three brother's supposed to be triplets? I don't think so....

LOL.

Oh and one last thing... this series is AWESOME! My favorite was Beatrix. Fun, fun series. Hope you enjoy them.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments Right now I'm reading Veil of Night by Linda Howard and started listening to Sizzle and Burn (Arcane Society, # 3) by Jayne Ann Krentz in the car. I just got my copy of Copper Beach (Dark Legacy, #1) by Jayne Ann Krentz and will start that on Wednesday. I also picked up the first couple of the Drake sisters books by Feehan that I'm thinking of starting.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'm trying to decide what to read next. It will be either Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward or Lord of the Abyss (Royal House of Shadows, #4) by Nalini Singh

I'm looking forward to Copper Beach (Dark Legacy, #1) by Jayne Ann Krentz , Sandra J. I'm a huge fan of Krentz (or Castle lol).

Neither is it one of mine. I feel that way about the sequel to Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth , though I only have a couple more months to wait rather than a year plus.

I'm thinking about skipping book #2 and 3 in the Royal House of Shadows series so I can read Lord of the Abyss (Royal House of Shadows, #4) by Nalini Singh . Mistake?

I've heard not, Heather. I went ahead and bought it based on that. Different writer, too.

message 162: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I bought it too, just always get a little nervous about jumping around in a series. I think some publishing elves will take my Kindle away in the night. =)

Not really a mistake. Not too much happened in terms of going forward with the overall plot in #2 and 3. I enjoyed them MUCH more than the first. #2 was by an author that I've enjoyed before (and just yesterday LOL) and #3 was a Goldilocks and the 3 bears story, very well written.

And in case any one was wondering LOL I decided to read Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward I had started it back in August and just didn't get into it. I'm liking it this time around.

message 166: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Just finished reading Beyond The Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning and was really disappointed. I've heard so much about this author, and this book wasn't a huge recommendation for me as my first read of hers.

About to start One Day by David Nicholls and Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs for some buddy reads coming up this week.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Caro, I've had several of my friends tell me NOT to read the KMM Highlander books in order. They all say #4 is the best. And that is the one I've read and i enjoyed it. Sorry that you didn't care for it.

message 169: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Hey all! I been away for ages, I swear I have the worst luck with computers. My laptop died, again, for the 4th or 5th time, but I think it's solved now, at least for a little while. I've got my old 2003 desktop hooked up and it's slower than cold molasses but at least I can get online now. One good thing about the lack of computer-time is I've been able to read a whole lot more lol. I've recently read Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas , A Reason to Sin by Maureen McKade , The Barefoot Princess (Lost Princesses, #2) by Christina Dodd , and Much Ado About You (Essex Sisters, #1) by Eloisa James , plus some other non-romance books. They all got about 3.5-4 Stars, so it was good reading at least :)

By far my favorite of the series, Jyl22075. Loved how Z evolved in it.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Man-oh-man! Jenny, you are really making me want to read that book, LOL! Torcher.

~Megan~ (megadee) Haha, I was like wait a minute, I don't remember that character name LOL! You never know with JR Ward, though, so I just shrugged and moved on!

message 179: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments So, I hunkered down and read Lord of Rage (Royal House of Shadows, #2) (Harlequin Nocturne, #121) by Jill Monroe and Lord of the Wolfyn (Royal House of Shadows, #3) by Jessica Andersen , so now I'm reading Lord of the Abyss (Royal House of Shadows, #4) by Nalini Singh to finish the series. Figured while I was in the zone, just finish it.
As the series moved along in books I liked each book a little more than the last, so here's hoping Abyss is stellar.

message 180: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I felt the same way, Heather. I liked each more than the last. I'll read the last one soon.

I'm reading One Day by David Nicholls . I started Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler but I have to sit at the computer to read it and I just don't feel like sitting for hours a the computer so I may shelf it till it comes out in paper or kindle.

message 181: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Just finished Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas I am in love with this series!!! Can't wait to start Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas but I'm a little surprised it's Poppy's story next and not Leo's. There was definitely a set up for something to happen between Leo and the governess Miss Marks, I thought surely that would be the next book.

message 185: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Well hopefully the funny banter between Leo and Miss Marks keeps up in the next book. I did enjoy that :). And I'm looking forward to Poppy's happily ever after, especially after her disappointing season in London.

message 186: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Just finished Lord of the Abyss (Royal House of Shadows, #4) by Nalini Singh . By far the best in the bunch!
Gonna tackle Stormwalker (Stormwalker, #1) by Allyson James , as its been on my TBR forever.

message 187: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Heather, Isn't Allyson James a pen name of Jennifer Ashley who wrote The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie? I'm pretty sure it is and if that's the case, I'd imagine that book will be pretty good :)

message 188: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments It is, but I wasn't blown away by The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie as I'm not a huge fan of historicals. Don't raise the pitchforks. =)
Hoping I like this modern/paranormal more. It seems more up my alley.

message 189: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments *gasp* Not a huge fan of historicals? How can that be? I'm just picking :)

message 190: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments LOL, I feel like such a traitor to the romance world with that admission. ;-)

message 191: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments So, do you prefer your romance with a splash of paranormal activity or just plain ole' contemporary?

message 192: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I'm more of a romance suspense addict, but I do enjoy paranormals/UFs too. How about you?

message 193: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Definitely historicals for me. My next choice would probably be paranormals.

message 194: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments I've only really gotten into paranormals in the last 2 years, and I do like historicals, but I think rom/sus would be my favourite sub-genre as well. A good contemporary well done can just be crazy-good, but unfortunately there are also a lot of so-so ones around. I think historicals and paranormals offer escapism, because it's nothing like my own situation, so it all depends on my mood as to what I'll for next to read.

message 195: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments sorry, had to get in on the conversation :-)

message 196: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I've read some romance suspense before...I love Lora Leigh's Seals and Elite Ops. Of course, they're more smut erotic than suspense ;)

message 197: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I hear you, Jenny! I just received notices from the library for books I really want to read (one has been on the “waitlist” since November!). Luckily that one starts with “V”.
V is for Vengeance (Kinsey Millhone, #22) by Sue Grafton
