It's intense and you'll just have to get to it in time as there are tons more between your book and this one. Eve and her aversion to anything girly still cracks me up. =)

I think Lola and the Boy Next Door had me thinking that the author was inside my teenage head more, a bit more realstic which I loved. and the boy? All Kinds Of Mega Swoony! And we get to see Anna and St. Clair again. *mega sigh*

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments So...better than Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer ??

message 106: by Heather (last edited Jan 16, 2012 08:50AM) (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I'm not sure that I can say anything is better than Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer becuase that book and Edward own my ever loving bronze haired vampire heart. lol
BUT, Stephanie Perkins writes such stories that you swear she stole your teenage brain or makes you want her characters teenage brain for your own. The characters are so life like and interesting that you want them as your friends and the emotions she writes about are so vivid and real you can touch them.
*nods head*

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments When I read Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer (view spoiler), I felt like I was right back in high-school. Lord knows, I'm old enough to be your mother, Heather, so how did she do that?

Stephanie or Stephenie? LOL
It must be a Stephanie (or Stephenie) thing about getting us to WANT to relive high school and actually enjoy and crave it. =)

Really! That, in and of itself, is unbelievable.

message 110: by ~Megan~ (last edited Jan 16, 2012 11:33AM) (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) I love me some Twilight, but I definitely think Stephanie Perkins is a better writer than Meyer. Plus, it's easier to relate to than being in love with a teenage vampire, if you catch my drift.

But Edward Cullen will always own my heart!

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I so very true on all counts, Megan!

Lina | 5563 comments I've heard good things about that Miranda Neville one Jyl. I'd be interested to know what you think.

I'm currently reading:
Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth
We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
oh, and Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones

Oh, CaroB! How are you liking it?

message 116: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments So far it has a very similar feel to The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins , but I only just started it late last night so not very far in yet.

message 117: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, thanks, CaroB. I've been meaning to remind those people who have wanted to read The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins -- that's an arrow on the front. You know, for one of the items in the February challenge. ☺

message 118: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) I hope you love Divergent, CaroB! It's one of my faves!

message 119: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Just started Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones for a buddy read and although I hadn't read the first one I'm really enjoying this one so far :)

message 120: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments OK so this doesn't exactly belong on this thread, but there was an old discussion about the Fall line-up (which I can't find anymore, maybe because it isn't Fall anymore) anyway several of us had discussed the television show 2 1/2 Men... Did anyone see Ashton Kutcher's new look last night. I'm not a huge Ashton Kutcher groupie, but WOW!

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I thought about re-reading The Hunger Games before the movie comes out, but not sure I'll get to it in Feb, but thanks for the reminder. If nothing else I can use the arrow for the Z-A Cover Art Image Search ~ 2012 Challenge

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments I'm a little further in Enchanted, Inc. (Enchanted, Inc. #1) by Shanna Swendson and also reading Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones as a Buddy Read

message 126: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I just finished Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones I liked it more than the 1st one in the series. I felt like there were too many characters introduced that really didn't have anything to do with the main story.

I'm starting The Naked King (Naked Nobility, #7) by Sally MacKenzie tonight and will start The Other Guy's Bride (Braxton, #2) by Connie Brockway tomorrow for a buddy read.

message 127: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments @ Susan, too many characters in the first book or this one? Just curious. I'm still about half way so now I'm wondering if some of these characters I'm focused on are irrelevant. LOL

message 128: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new)

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Tracey, in this book. And yes, you're probably focused on irrelevant characters. I was LOL

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'm almost done with Colorado Dawn (A Runaway Brides, #2) by Kaki Warner - a "buddy read" my partner & I are both behind on.

Currently reading Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones as a "buddy read" - & I'm behind... d/t migraines (and it's not grabbing me).

Started On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews for a group game and man-oh-man! is it good.

Tracey Smith | 415 comments While perusing around my favorite little used bookstore I found an entire series of Lisa Kleypas books (a rarity to find the whole series in a used bookstore), and based on Lisa Kay's previous endorsments for this author decided to jump in with both feet and bought them all :). So now I have
Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas Tempt Me at Twilight (The Hathaways, #3) by Lisa Kleypas Married By Morning (The Hathaways #4) by Lisa Kleypas Love in the Afternoon (The Hathaways, #5) by Lisa Kleypas

message 132: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, Tracey! I hope you LOVE them as much as I did. I bought Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas on audiobook for myself for Christmas. I'm hopeless. I try to be good, but gheez...even the cover is great. That blue dress is gorgeous. And Cam is to die for.

message 137: by Joann (new)

Joann | 495 comments Finished re-reading Stolen (Women of the Otherworld, #2) by Kelley Armstrong loved it!

Just started reading Wicked by Any Other Name (Jazz Tremaine, #3) by Linda Wisdom it's just not grabbing me. The first two books were great - having a hard time with this one. It's still early in the book though...

message 138: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments It's not a romance, but finished reading We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver for my book club this week, and it was such an emotional and engrossing read. Heavy and heartbreaking, but in a good way ;-)

Also just finished Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones last night. I loved it as much as the first, but for different reasons. This one had more character development, I felt, but not as funny. Still great!

Still going with Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth .

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'm reading The Ninth Wife by Amy Stolls It's from the bottom of my TBR list for our January challenge, and when I read about the author, it fits our journalist challenge cause she was a journalist. I'm really enjoying it. It's written in 3rd person present which is a little strange, and then there have been chapters of 1st person, which is a little stranger LOL

message 140: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Just finished Imitation in Death, which I loved (not as much as Portrait in Death, but still great).
Picking up Driving Mr. Dead, because a Molly Harper read is always a good time. =)

message 143: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments OK I'm gonna get on my soapbox for a minute ;). My biggest pet peve is inaccurate book cover images. If you're going to put a woman on the cover of the book, make her look like the character! So I was pleased enough with the inside cover picture of Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas aside from the fact that her hair was shoulder length when it should have been to her waist, I was otherwise happy with the illustration of the characters. Now as far as Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2) by Lisa Kleypas inside cover picture, I thought Win looked exactly as I expected. However the male model used for this pic is the same as the first book! It's the same guy! Seriously?...
OK I'm done now :)

message 144: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments LOL!! I'm hearing you Tracey! It's one of my pet peeves too. How hard is it to just get a description from the book?!

message 145: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I wondered if that was the same model!

message 146: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Smith | 415 comments CaroB wrote: "LOL!! I'm hearing you Tracey! It's one of my pet peeves too. How hard is it to just get a description from the book?!"

I was almost 100% satisfied with the first book's pic. He matched the description well, her hair color was correct. The scene was even outside with her in a nightgown which was an actual scene from the book. Only hiccup, her hair was shoulder length and in the book it's described as reaching her waist. But I can live with that :)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Finished The Spy Who Left Me, which has been a slow go, low interest book for me for quite some time. Not really driven to read anything else by the writer either.
Also finished the audiobook, Driving Mr. Dead. I enjoyed this. Fun and quick, I just don't know why the author had to write another heroine that reminds me so much of Jane from her Jane Jameson Series.
No idea what I'm going to read next.

Cheryl (cawils_99) I am starting 2 books Once and Always (Sequels #1) by Judith McNaught and Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean .
