Oh, I've read a lot of mixed reviews about this one. From my GR Buds, the ratings range from 5 stars to 2 stars. I've also read some very scathing reviews. The book seems to have high ratings on GR & Amazon though.

Yes I am reading them in order and really enjoying them! As my favorite author says "life is too short to waste time on books that end badly" lol....

Well, they both do have a harlot in the title.

Rachel, Kyra, Elishia. Beautiful Disaster is the kind of book that's deceptively easy to get into it. The writing is simple and in theory quite captivating. But if you read it like I do, slowly and thoughtfully and actually stop to consider what makes sense and what doesn't, it becomes this story about romanticised abuse, misogyny, slut shaming, girl on girl hate, and glorification of a dysfunctional relationship. It's actually a quite good example of an unreliable narrator and instead of accepting Abby's reactions as given, you should be questioning her sanity.

And I've only read a third of the book.

Rameau, I really like your take on this. I've never read this book and will not - the author is on my BBA shelf.

lol! Too true! :)

~Megan~ (megadee) I didn't care for Beautiful Disaster either...waaaaaay too melodramatic for my tastes. Easy by Tammara Webber is a much better option!

Easy by Tammara Webber

~Megan~ (megadee) The cover is just as perfect as the book! :)

That's it. This book will drive me nuts to read. I do look at all that stuff when I read. :( Disappointing, but good to know.

Thank you for your honest take on it. :)

Awww! Well kudos for taking one for the team. I hope someone is sending you something with chocolate for the sacrifice! :) Will you write a review? If you do, I would like to read it when you're done.

Maybe we should do a buddy read for Easy by Tammara Webber ? Although, buddy reads for books I haven't read make me nervous because I always feel embarrassed if I end up not liking the book. I don't know why.

Not to worry, Rachel! If you don't like it, you don't like it. In fact, one book was sooooooooo "gag me with a sppon" bad, I had to stop reading it and the stop participating in the "buddy read." Just ask Susan; I left her and Michelle in the lurch.

I didn't know what to read next, had a choice between 7 books so used random.org.(Thanks Susan for the idea) and now I'm going to start the last book in the law of the lycan series. The Finding (Law of the Lycans, #3) by Nicky Charles

I've only read(?!) one book from Maya Banks and it's on my dnf shelf! I'm not sure if I want to try another one of her books, how did you like this one?

message 978: by [deleted user] (new)

@Shosho - I really liked it. 4.5 stars. It's a tight read, and she really surprises me with some of the intimate scenes (something I didn't think could happen). << And yes, I realize how bad that sounds. LOL

The emotions ran high, the suspense was real, and I caught myself rooting them on. So, yeah...I'd recommend it. :)

I saw you just finished Highlander #3. I need to get on reading #2, but I keep putting it off.

How is the Rock Chick series? I've had those on my Kindle for a long time now, but I keep skipping over them.

Touch Me Gently looks interesting (and heartwrenching). I'll have to add that to my list.
