No, it wasn't slow for me because I had a particularly high amount of experience memorizing such things by the time I had started this book because I study religious history and also I had started the Wheel of Time by then, and finished many other epic fantasies, so it wasn't sow or confusing for me in that regard. I could see how it would be, though. The slow part for me was the pace, which took some getting use to after reading things like Goodkind, Jordan and Sanderson, where there's always something happening. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get adjusted. But try and get there, because it is a great book and will be way worth it.

Maybe the reason why it seems boring to you is because Game of Thrones is an adult fantasy so it's not going to be completely intriguing all the time, and that's ok. The main thing about Game of Thrones is that unlike other fantasies like The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter, that help you escape the real world, Game of Thrones is a medieval fantasy that shows the real world for what it is: sex, murder, betrayal and political gains.
