A shiny, long piece of parchment hangs on the wall, blowing in the slight breeze from a nearby window. It looks very attention catching.
Students stand near, reading the poster, and giggling over it.
Your curiosity strikes.
The poster reads:
Dear Hogwarts Students,
You enjoy house points right? Well, coming to the dance with your sweetheart might just get you some! Invite the one you fancy to the dance (going on tonight) in the most creative way possible, and earn house points. And if you reply to an invite in the most creative way, you earn some too! So grab a date, dress in your best robes, and come to the dance! You're sure to have a fun time!

Amy looked at the poster and went back to her common room. She knew she wasn't going to go, nobody would ask her.
Audrey walked into the magical library and wandered around the aisles of bookshelves until she found a subject that caught her eye. Achievements In Charming the book was titled. "Accio book." She whispered, and it cascaded down from one of the top shelves. She caught it in her hand and, with a satisfied smile, went back to sit and study it.
Juniper wandered in and sat down at an empty table, pulling a quill and parcment out of her bag. Then she pulled a large, dusty looking book out as well, titled, Ancient Potion-Making. She began writing her essay.
Emma sat down at Juniper's table, hanging her bag over the back of her chair. "Hi, Juniper," she said. Emma pulled out her textbook, A Guide to Transfiguration, Year 7, a roll of parchment, and her quill.
"Hi, Emma!" Juniper said brightly, then began to chew the tip of her quill as she thought about what she might write. She glanced over at Emma's book. Distracted, she asked, "So, what exactly do you Transfigure by year seven?" She was only a third year.
"We mostly work on human transfiguration. For example, we're learning how to transfigure ourselves into doves at the moment," Emma replied.
"Whoa, really?" Juniper said, truly interested. She was an Animagus, she could turn into an owl. Therefore, turning into birds was something she could relate to.
"Yeah," Emma relied. "It's not as easy as it looks. One of my classmates was sent to the hospital wing sporting feathers after the lesson."
"Oh, my," Juniper breathed. "Well, Madam Pomfrey can fix nearly anything. How did you do, if you don't mind my asking?"
"Not bad. I managed to give myself blue feathers in place of my hair and eyebrows," Emma replied. "I was more successful than most of my classmates, though.
Juniper laughed. "Well, at least they were a desirable color. They could've been puke color, or bogey green." her face took on a look of mock disgust.
"You've got a point," Emma laughed, receiving a scornful look from Madam Pince. "Let's just say I have no burning desire to become a bird anytime soon."
Josie walked into the library and immediatly began searching for a book for a Charms essay she was writing. After finally finding it, Josie sat down and took out her parchment.
Jasper walked in and searched a book about potions. He excelled at transfiguration, but even though he had good grades in every class, he was a bit worried about potions. He found one and sat down, immediately flipping through pages and finding something to read. He glanced at Josie and flashed her his brilliant smile as a greeting. He fixed his eyes on the book.
Jasper took out some parchment and a quill and started making notes and doing potion exercises in his head.
After some time, Jasper finished. He stood and closed the book, leaving his notes and homework inside it accidentally. He pushed the book back in the shelf. On his way out he smiled at Josie goodbye and slipped outside, heading for the halls, not really planning on going anywhere else.

"Let's just say I have no burning desire to become a bird anytime soon.""Juniper laughed too, looking down. She couldn't say the same. "Well, I've got to work on my Potions now. I don't think Snape would be pleased if I come into class with half an essay done."

Jasper walked in, thinking about Quidditch and potions. He walked to the shelf and took the book out. He flipped through the pages until he found his homework and notes tucked inside. He must have been thinking about Quidditch to loose them.

Jasper stuffed his homework and notes into his bag. He gently set the potions book back in it's shelf, before turning to leave.

Svetlana got her books and started back toward the dorm. She accidentally ran into someone "oof. Sorry!"
Jasper headed for the door. But he paused. He glanced at Josie before walking over to her. He gripped the strap of his back pack as he neared her and stood by her table. He felt stupid just standing there and hesitating for so long.

Finally, Jasper spoke up, "Josie? I'm sorry to bother you, but there is something I've been meaning to ask you..."Jasper made sure to speak in a hushed tone. He hoped his usually nicely calmed, pale brown hair looked decent.
Jasper took a deep breath."I was wondering... if you'd like to go to the dance with me, later."
Jasper felt himself blush a little as the words were out. He waited, telling himself to expect a rejection and not get too excited.
Josie thought for a moment. "Sure I'll go but I don't really know you, like at all so so it would be a good time to get to meet you." Josie said.
Jasper flashed his smile."That's why I asked you. Because I'd really like to get to know you" he felt his heart about to burst through his chest.
Josie quickly wrote something on her parchment and then looked up again. "Yeah, it will be nice to meet someone. I tend to be a little unsocial when I get caught up in schoolwork."
Jasper didn't lose his kind smile. "I don't think that's true" he said.
"I better leave you do your work, then. Would you like me to wait outside, or to meet you there?" he asked her.
"Why don't you meet me there. I should be ready in a little bit." Josie said, putting her quill away.
Jasper nodded."Okay, then. I'll meet you there" he said with a smile before turning around and heading for the Hufflepuff common room.
Rogue didn't know what else to do, so she just followed Amy towards the plant section. "So, Amy, what house are you in?"
((No, wanna be friends?)) "I've heard it somewhere. And, not being rude or anything, but you look like an Amy to me." Rogue took off her dark shades. "I wanted to be in Slytherin, but I'm in Gryffindor. Interesting change of events, isn't it?"
(( Sure! )) "ah. I'm glad I look like an Amy! yes, very interesting. I'd give almost anything to be in Gryffindor." she said, selecting a book about plants with healing qualities.
"And I've give nothing to be in Slytherin." Rogue smiled slightly evilly. "Why are you looking at plants with healing qualities?"
"You don't have to be so quiet about it! Lots of people here want to be healers. I'm going to be... someone. Maybe a healer," Rogue said cheerfully.
