((Takes me sooo long. Sorry! lol))
Brenton climbed through the castle with Evangeline, her hand in his as they made the journey up the the owlery. Brenton had placed his Ukelele in it's room on their way, so now he strode along with her, not carrying anything but curiosity.
He was curious on why Evangeline's brother was coming to see her in a few weeks. He assumed the brother missed his sister, and he could understand.
He was curious on if Evangeline's family would like him at all, and he wondered if he was the only one who was worried about such a thing.
He was also curious as to why Evangeline was bustling around so quickly, changing from subject to subject as if she was worried she was saying the wrong things. Her behavior had seemed different since they'd come together that morning, but he pushed the thought from his mind as they entered the large and noisy room.
"Okay! We're here." He told Evangeline. "Where's Victoria?"

"Okay! We're here." He told Evangeline. "Where's Victoria?"

Evangeline winced as the noise from the owls hit her. She smoothed her skirt, and looked around for Victoria. She saw the beautiful tawny owl snoozing in the top corner. "There she is," Evangeline told him. "Vicky!!!" she called. The owl woke up and hooted sleepily, glaring down at Evangeline with slight reproach. "Oh, come on silly," Evangeline scolded, holding out her arm, "I've got a new friend for you to meet!" Victoria spread her wings and glided down to land on Evangeline's arm, nibbling her ear affectionately. "Well, hello to you too," Evangeline said quietly, smiling. "Victoria, this is Brenton." The owl turned to look at Brenton, and hooted again, as if in question. "My boyfriend, nosy," Evangeline laughed. "Here, you hold her," she said to Brenton, handing Victoria over.
((I'll bring Kit in next post. You'll have to bear with me, it'll be the first time I've played two characters at once))
((Take your time! It'll be wonderful.))
Brenton looked around the room and Evangeline called a small own from it's perch. It was quite the beauty! Victoria looked petitely fierce and confident, and Brenton grinned slightly as the owl came to perch on Evangeline's arm while she spoke to it affectionately.
Brenton held his breath slightly, raising his arm for Victoria to perch on as Evangeline passed her over to him. He looked into the owls big eyes and smiled. "Um... Hello. I'm Brenton. I promise I'm nice to your Evangeline." He told the owl, moving closer to the girl, kissing her softly.

Evangeline laughed at Brenton's comment, and kissed him back while Victoria hooted indignantly. Then she heard someone say "Evangeline," and she spun around, breaking the kiss. It startled Victoria, who flew back up to her perch, clipping Evangeline's head with her wing in passing. She saw a man emerge from the shadowy corner of the Owlery... The familiar black leather outfit, pale blonde flyaway hair...
"Kit! Oh, Kit!" She cried, running forward and flinging her arms around his neck, though he was far taller than her. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming today?" she asked, stepping back a little.
Kit held his little sister close, and then pushed her back to arms length. His mouth curled up wryly at one corner. "You'd deprive me of the opportunity to surprise you like that? You were always too gullible, Evie." He grinned as she swatted him on the arm. She could always soften his mood, no matter what. "Speaking of which..." He said, raising one elegant eyebrow to where Brenton was still standing alone.
"Oh," Evangeline said, colouring slightly as she realised Kit must have seen them kissing. "This is my boyfriend, Brenton," she said. She saw his gaze intensify, and looked down to brush feathers off her skirt, pretending not to know what was behind the look.
Brenton was surprised by the quick motion, and he fell forward slightly as Evangeline ripped her warm lips from his. The owl had left his arm, but it was the least of his worries as he regained his footing and looked as to where Evangeline had ran off to.
A handsome older boy stood before him, quite a few feet away, leaning on the entrance to the room. He looked steely and confident, and Brenton stepped forward, grinning in a friendly manor as he heard Evangeline happily chatter with the man.
This was Kit.
He cleared his throat. "Hello. I'm Brenton. You must be Evangeline's brother!" He said politely, extending a hand to shake. "I's nice to finally meet you. I've heard a million amazing things." He said, worried about his harsh glance and the way Evangeline seemed to pretend not to notice.

Kit saw Evangeline's motion, and sighed imperceptibly. He'd never been very good at the whole "social" thing, but he'd try for Evie. He stepped forward properly into the light, extending his pale hand towards Brenton. "Yes, I'm Kit," he replied as Evie went to stand beside the boy. "It's... nice to meet you," he said, assessing the boy through one of his half smiles. But his eyes stayed cold. At least so far this boy seemed nothing like George.
Evangeline looked anxiously at the two of them, biting her lip very slightly, still holding on to Brenton's hand.
Brenton was comforted greatly by Evangeline's presences as she took his hand, and he smiled over at her for a moment before Kit spoke again. He could sense an unspoken communication here, and even though he was a bit discomforted by meeting Kit, and him walking in while they were kissing, he was happy that Evangeline seemed so much brighter now than earlier.
"How long are you staying?" He asked Kit, wanting to make pleasant conversation.
((Should I bring Kat in at this moment, or do you want to wait later for them to meet?))

"I'm starting work in the Hogsmeade Quill Shop, so I'll be here for a while. Until I decide whether or not I want to become an Auror or not," Kit replied to Brenton's question.
"Kit, darling, you can't!" Evangeline exclaimed before she could stop herself. "You'd get hurt!" Actually, he'd been Duelling Champion in his day, so that was unlikely, but she worried about him anyway.
Kit raised an eyebrow at her outburst, and turned to Brenton, another half-smile curling his lips. "See how she mothers me? I'm only thinking about it, Evie," he said, taking on that slightly long-suffering tone he knew she hated.
Evangeline heard the clock strike, and gasped. "Oh dear, I promised to go and see a teacher in about five minutes!" She exclaimed. "You made me lose track of time!" She accused Kit, then gave him a quick peck on the cheek. She turned to Brenton, and quite forgetting her brother for a moment, she gave him a quick but passionate kiss. "Bye Vicky!" She said, waving to her owl, and then ran out, smiling all the while.
((I just wanted an excuse for Kit and Brenton to be left alone, hope that's OK))
((Haha, that'll be great! :) Looking forward to it.))
Brenton nodded and made a mental note to never step in Evangeline's older brothers way. If Kit was wanting to become an Auror, Brenton had a great feeling that he'd be perfect for the job.
He laughed lightly at the sisterly banter, and decided that he liked this side of Evangeline. It was one he hadn't seen, so he smiled as she went on.
But when she declared that she'd be leaving them alone, and turned to kiss him, he blushed wildly, but wouldn't break the kill until he had to. He loved Evangeline, after all.
She ran out and he wrung his hands awkwardly, looking from Kit to the ground to Victoria, but he did finally come up with something to say.
"So, you're starting work in Hogsmeade? That's great. My friend works there, and she says it's splendid..." He told him. "Are you transferring to Hogwarts?"

Brenton swallowed hard at Kit's icy stare. Nothing had been more uncomfortable for him in awhile, he thought.
"Um... George." He said softly, looking down at his pale palms. He remembered the previous morning with Evangeline, and nodded. "Yes. I know about him... Nothing like that... I would be lucky to have your... Your sister as my... But I would never force her to..." He trailed off, his words failing him completely. "Never force her to do anything." He finished, looking into Kit's demanding gaze, wanting him to believe those words.

Brenton was caught off guard by the boys admitted protectiveness, and his need to have Brenton promise over his little sister safety. Nonetheless, he nodded his head understandingly. "I promise. Evangeline is safe with me." He said sternly, wanting to live up to Kit's expectations.

((Back to the Teashop? You can post first. :) ))
((Yes'm!))
Brenton was shaking slightly now, scared out of his wits. He'd never had a girlfriend as serious as Evangeline, and her brother was dead serious.
He gave a feeble goodbye to Victoria, putting some grain in her bowl before leaving the room, worried to death that he'd never get Kit to be as friendly as Evangeline was...
At least he hadn't killed him, right?
