Reading
-love it. Want to read all of Anne Holt: thanks folks, I heard of her through you.About 1/3 through
& very interested. And I just got Jo Nesbo's
from the library, although I have no idea when I'll read it. I've been so good about not reading too many books at a time! *wails*
Ellie - glad you are liking 1222 - I have it on the pile to get to, along with Helsinki White and Borkmann's Point - this month might be a bit NN heavy ;)
Currently reading Arctic Chill & enjoying it very much (though still towards the beginning).I own Unwanted so I think I'll bump that up to next. Thanks Diane!

Really enjoyed Unwanted. Hope you do as well

On Net Galley. They very seldom turn me down I think because I do the ordering for our library. It was very different.
I got it requested. They tend to approve me to, so I am hoping they will. Plus I don't think S&S has ever turned me down..(knock on wood!)and I have always done their reviews promptly.
I finished listening to Camilla Lackberg's The Ice Princess. Not terribly impressed. I have to admit that I was listening to this book during a particularly difficult time in my life but it did not grab me.

After way too many mediocre crime books recently, at least I'm now reading something that's interesting (yet very close to the style of many others I didn't like) at least so far. Sun and Shadow
Naomi wrote: "No, I didn't realize he had a new book out yet. It will be on my TBR list."I thought I recommended it to you - maybe it was someone else - FWIW, I found out that Lars Kepler is actually a husband/wife writing duo
We knew that and I have the wrong author...I am thinking of a different book...I wasn't that crazy about their book if I remember right.
listening to Cold Comfort which I got as a review copy and waiting for my Ake Edwardson book to show up at the library
Reading Jo Nesbo's The Leopard right now. Not really feeling it the first few chapters, I hope it starts to click better.
i'm almost done with Cold Comfort - i'm enjoying this one more than the first book in the series - its not as dark as some NN, but not bad...it might be the audiobook vice the reading it, how I did the first one
glad you liked Invisible murder Diane - I picked up the previous one since it was on sale for 1.99, now I just got to find time to read it before this one comes out
For the last couple of months, publishing of Nordic novels has been scarce, now they have all come out at once . I'm just saying. I think I have 4 of them to read now.
Dee, I'd be interested to know what you make of Cold Comfort, as I haven't heard the audio version apart from a very brief clip. I have to admit I'm dreading how the reader coped with the Icelandic names.Otherwise, reading Head Count by Ingrid Noll. Excellent, nasty and very dark.

I liked it for the most part Quentin - Davina Porter is one of my favorite narrators, so I have to admit a bit of a bias. Not ever knowing how the names are truely said - they sounded accurate to me - and I could see from how they were written, how they could sound (does that make sense?). She does have a bit of a british accent, which was a tad distracting but nothing that I didn't get over in the first hour
Thanks, Dee. That was quick! Pleased to hear you enjoyed it.One day I'll get to listen to a bit more of it and will find out how Davina Porter really coped with the names. I had kept the names as straightforward as I could, but that part of it is always a headache as Icelanders just don't tend to have names that are familiar to us.
i would love to chat with her about how she learns to do that - I know many narrators hire language coaches to help them with specific pronunciation
Interesting... I didn't know that. I imagined she might have found a stray Icelander to ask. They could have asked me, but I didn't even know an audio book was planned until I saw it on Amazon.
Dee wrote: "so when do we get book 3 Quentin??? or do I have to start stalking you like I do jim and his books"She means it Quentin!!! Jim actually moved to Finland to run from Dee!! lol (totally not true)
Dee wrote: "so when do we get book 3 Quentin??? or do I have to start stalking you like I do jim and his books"Plus, bonus...once you release book 3 you can officially be nominated for author of the month! Now there is a motivation.
hang on, I don't stalk as much as Naomi does...i mean she has an author that has a restraining order out on her... (totally not true either!)
Feel free to stalk! It would make some fine material...Book 3 is on the way, but it hasn't been a painless process so far. The full story is here: http://graskeggur.com/blog/87/the-sto...
That was written in June. At the moment I'm going through the draft of Chilled to the Bone, and it's scheduled for April, as far as I know. But if I can manage it, there'll be a kindle novella around Xmas/New Year.
btw, I've seen a proof of Jim's new book and it's stormin' stuff.
I am going to listen to Cold Comfort since Dee has been recommending it that way. I was going to read it, but decided to give it a try through audio book...Oh..and DAMN IT, JIM...How did Quentin get to see your book??? I think there are a chunk of us who should be giving Jim a hard time!! lol
