Chris Columbus is not directing The Sea of Monsters. The new director is Thor Freudenthal, director of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Lets just hope he does a better job!

Okay so this is my verdict people who read the book were disspointed since the movie messed everything up and the people I know who read the book and watched the movie thought the movie sucked but the people I know that never read the book but watched the movie thought it was an awesome movie. The reason that the movie sucked for people who read the book was that it changed everything from the book and people dont like that and I didnt like it either but if I hadnt read the books I know that I would have enjoyed the movie better and really the movie didnt suck that much. Logan Lerman is Hot:).

I loved the books, and I was miffed with all of the changes that was made when the movie came out. I watched it solely for the purpose of seeing the movie come to life, and I was highly disappointed.
But I was able to enjoy the movie. I've watched it a few times now, and it's really enjoyable. Because of all of the differences and omissions, I think that I was able to think of the movie and the books as separate things. I stopped comparing them because they are really not much alike in anything but concept and loose story structure.
So I really liked the movie. I love Logan Lerman's acting, more so in other movies though. And I would buy the Sea of Monsters on dvd. Though I like to think of the movies as just movies, and the books as a enterprise unto themselves.
Anyone agree?
Uhh did you notice that the only thing the movie and book had in common were the names of the characters? Luckily I had never heard of these books until I watched the movie so I actually enjoy the movie. But good lord these books are amazing ( dieing inside having to wait a year for Mark of Athena)

I agree that if you judge the movie and book separately, they are both okay. The book is good, and the movie is another Hollywood production but with an original storyline.
I didn't like that the writers/director/producers and Riordon let the book be butchered, but I don't think the movie is inherently evil. And I do love Logan. Except for his semi-accent. :)
I wonder if he can help his accent.

yeah, and throughout the movie he did also, but it vanished quickly.
I luv ur plan I am SO in they MASSACRED one of my FAVORITE book series! The sick people! This reminds me exactly of the Harry potter series! They messed up the lines! I HATE MOVIE DIRECTORS!

Also, in the movie they didn't show the part were Luke almost killed Percy with scorpions. That was a KEY part!
TOTALLY A EPIC FAIL!!! The film sucked, it bore me! Riordon's book was ruined into a shocking film...
well... i think that this was a mistake that they shouldn't have overlooked, but i dont think that the movie completely sucked. i enjoyed watching it but i enjoyed the books much more.

Okay, so the movie peoples didn't follow the story, and that really annoyed me. But, I did still like the movie. Pretty much all through it I was thinking "This isn't how it's supposed to be!" But it was still not a bad movie. Hope the next one's better, but I'm sure that no matter how they portray Tyson, we'll like our own images of him (from the books) better. =)
I agree that with you on the fact that it WAS a good movie on its own. I am mad that it didn't follow the story line, but I did like the movie.

I agree they totally messed up the fantastic books and I don't think there is anyway they can make a second movie like the books based on how the first one was ruined. But then it's been known to happen. The only movie I've loved because it followed the book was the 6 hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice with Collin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Best job done EVER!
