I'm so confused. I picked up Vienna Waltz at the library because it sounded interesting. Only when I added it to my goodreads list that I saw that it is #3 in a series. But the characters are renamed for this title (I read the article with the author interview at http://historyhoydens.blogspot.com/20... what kind of idiot publisher has the author change the main characters' names in the middle of the series? And the author's name was changed to "Teresa" instead of "Tracy" for Book 3 because the publisher wanted a more historical sounding name, but it was changed back to Tracy for Book 4? I hope her editor for Book 3 was fired. Anyway, what the heck order are these supposed to occur in? Book 1 was written for 1810, Book 2 is in 1817 and is a prequel, and Book 3 is in 1814 and book 4 in 1820? I would like to read more about this couple as they were very intriguing in the Vienna Waltz, but I'm so confused I don't know if it's worth the bother.

It is definitely worth the bother. I love these books! I am obsessive about reading books in order, but with these books one just has to accept that they do skip around in chronology. The author does take care to make sure that you can follow the story in each book s a stand-alone, but obviously they are better if one reads them all.

I find the best way to deal with this is to read them in the order in which they were published. The author page gives the order, too: http://www.goodreads.com/series/54564...

PS A further complication is that Secrets of a Lady was also published as Daughter of the Game ... But do persist!!

Just to clear a few things up, the couple in Vienna Waltz [and now Imperial Scandal] are Malcolm & Suzanne Rannoch. In Beneath a Silent Moon, the couple is Charles & Melanie Fraser. Totally different couples. It is not uncommon for authors to publish under several pseudonyms [Tracy Grant and Teresa Grant are both Tracy Grant. You can find an author's real name next to the copyright date].

Hope that clears things up for those who got confused.
