Can Edward read Renee's mind?

I recently reread the draft of Midnight Sun that Stephenie Meyer posted on her site, and I got to the part where Edward realized he couldn't fully read Charlie's mind, and later he was very curious if he would be able to read Bella's mother's mind. Has this mystery been solved in the other books, or has Stephenie Meyer spoken on the subject? If not, what are your thoughts--can he read Renee's mind?

Well I hope you read the books and got your answer since no one answered you back in December. Edward can read Renee's mind. He says Renee's mind is almost child like, very insightful. That is written in Eclipse.
