in your opinion, did the part 2 movie capture the ending?

I think the part 2 was pretty epic, but it didn't stick to the book as much as part 1 did.

I don't think the movie was detailed enough, or just "Harry Potter" enough, to really capture the ending. I guess it would be hard to do that, though, with a movie. You had to have read the book to understand what was happening, I think, and to understand how important everything was. I just can't believe it's all over, and the movie seemed too rushed to let that sink in.

I think that the half of the book it is based on would be extremely difficult to portray in a movie, and I think they did well to capture what they could and still have it make sense. Although, comparing the scenes where it is solely between Harry and Voldemort, they could have made the film better by having more of Harry's speech when they were all in the Entrance Hall (where Voldemort was actually killed).

Yes, I think it did. Its just that part one covered most of the book. Still, it could have been improved a little. I especially love the music in the battle scene. Its random of me to say that, but the music creates the feeling.

better than the sixth movie.at least it didn't CUT out the main battle!

They shouldn't have added all the extra scenes with Harry and voldermort then Harry could have had a speech more like the one in the book

No they were so focused on the battle scene between Voldmort and Harry they forgot about how important the details leading up to that point was.

In my opinion, it was great and captured everything better than we ever could have hoped for. Especially considering the atrocious film version of books 4-6. The tone of Deathly Hallows, both parts 1 and 2, was spot on. The quietude, the tension, the sense of melancholy, despair, and hopelessness.

Yes, there was a lot of things that we could have wished would have been different and closer to the pages in the book, but in all honesty, we, as readers, will never been 100 percent satisfied.

I, personally, take offense to the fact that James Potter, Harry's father, the one that so many pages of the epic saga we all love spent so much time regaling us with the fact that Harry was the spitting image of, was left out so tremendously. Not just in this one film, but in the series as a whole. They focused entirely too much on Lily and those magical eyes that Snape loved so well, that weren't even the right color.

So, yes, I think the movie captured everything precisely as best as they could have ever done, and we could have ever dreamed. :)

No!!! Voldemort is not supposed to flake away! That made me sooooo mad! It also upset me when they made Ron fat in the epilogue.

I think they did a better job on the second part than the first part, but they still added too much on and left out too much. It was still a decent movie that ended with a bang though.

I'm with Emily! And I think the end of the last movie was a sell out to Hollywood. The end of the book was so powerful, with Harry and Voldemort circling each other, and finally as equals - or more - Harry now superior because he had gone to the edge and back, and had no more fear. That he could address Voldemort (repeatedly!) as 'Tom' to me was this sign that in a way Voldemort (as such) had already died. And then that powerful end of the scene where again, harry disarms and Voldemort goes to kill, and disarming proven again more powerful was brilliant. But completely wiped out of the film in favor or made up horror film-type scenes of snakes chasing, and Harry and Voldemort fighting in the air. Please. I was so disappointed. Other things done well though!

I loved the way voldemort shattered to pieces. It would be cool if he was the slytherin house ghost.

One thing that I didnt like was in the book Harry fixed his wand and then I dont remember what he did with Dumbledore's wand but in the movie he just broke Dumbledore's wand into a chasm. That just bugged me so much.

I really enjoyed the first movie. It captured many of the nuances of the book brilliantly. The second movie was very different. It almost switched tones and made the strongest points seem campy. For example the fight between Belatrix and Molly. It is one of my favorite scenes in literature, the movie made it seem very cheesy and devoid of the rawness and emotion of the books.

I really didn't like it how they kind of down played Voldemorts death, like when Harry killed him everyone was just like, "ok". I think they should have included the scene with Harry defending Molly, because it had so much significance in it. Molly had become like a mother to Harry. I really liked it though how they had flashbacks of the first movie, because I thought the first movie when they were all small was so magical and important to the whole Harry Potter feeling. Oh and when Harry and Voldemort jumped off a brige, that was just funny!
