Haydensdad | 73 comments My father just bought himself an e reader and cannot get it set up. We tried setting up a wifi network as he has a router for his laptop and it will not accept his password. Does any one have any suggestions on how he can get set up. He said he was going to try Macdonalds as they have free wifi.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Greg aka Haydensdad

Jean Hontz (majkia) can't you also use a usb connection to his computer to set it up?

Haydensdad | 73 comments Tries that does not work you need "secure" wifi to get started. Went to local Macdonalds used there free wifi and connected instantly but could not download updates. My sister set hers up yesterday at her house no problem at all and she has wifi internet. It seems that the key is a secure wifi connection.
Thanks for the reply however
Greg
Pass it along it appearsd you need a password secure wifi to get the kobo vox up & running

Traci Do you have two passwords? I am not very computer savvy but when I'm connecting to my home wifi I noticed I have two assumingly different types of passwords. One is long and has numbers and letters with no meaning. The other is a more traditional password. I usually need to use the longer one. Maybe you tried using the other? The information should be under the icon for your internet provider.

Well the saga continues, my father went to my sisters place used her secure wifi got the kobo up and running got a couple of free downloads from the kobo site or chapters now they won't download onto his e reader. LOL the e reader is pretty cool but the cashier had no trouble "downloading" my cash at Chapters yesterday.
Coincidentally while I was paying a mother and son were returning their 2nd kobo vox because neither they nor tech support could get the thing to work. They suggested getting a new e reader. Ahhh technology isn't it grand.

Traci I'm trying to figure out a new phone tonight. I can sympathize. Nothing like new tech to make you feel stupid. Lol.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I love Kobo and I have had two of their three e-readers. Kobos always come out buggy. :-( It sucks but after they get cleaned up (software wise) they are pretty good.
