hey guys, i just started reading the book, but just to make sure, is the Appendix at the end of the book important for the reader to understand the story? im asking before i get into it bacause i dont want to get confused while reading further or anything.

The simple answer it not really. You can read and enjoy the story without ever looking at the Appendices. What they do is give a little more insight into what happens after the story.
Yes, you could read the story without ever looking into the appendix but there is definitely a lot of insight into characters and other useful information there such as timelines etc. But, it mainly information that one wishing to know more or go deeper would be more interested in. The casual reader, probably not.
