I found the two moons interesting, especially tied into the song, "Paper Moon." After reading the article and interview with Murakami in which it was stated that some things in his books seemed to come true. Thank you for that article, Joseph. Very interesting. Paper moons, temporary moons.
The two moons reminded me of the two moons in Samuel R. Delany's Dhalgren. In Dhalgren they name the moon George, after the model for all the nude pictures floating around town. He's bigger than life, so in the story, it makes sense that he is responsible in some way for the moon.
