Robin | 5442 comments I don't think I could trade with you.

That's horrid. I hope she finds something that counters that impression.

I was just trying to get to the root of the superstition... I can't find anything, so I guess it'll remain one of life's mysteries. (Or to me, at least.)

message 303: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments What, SD?

message 304: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Uhhh, what Frances said.

message 305: by Khalif (new)

Khalif yeah, what are you talking about?

message 306: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Beats me.

message 307: by Khalif (new)

Khalif if only some one spoke Sarah.

to everyone: Does anyone speak Sarah?

message 308: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments Not fluently.

message 309: by Khalif (new)

Khalif it doesn't matter if you aren't fluent, if you can even give us a ball park of what she's saying, we'd appreaciate it.

message 310: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
I speak Sarah.

message 311: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments Really? Can you translate what you said into English?

message 312: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments No way, SD!

I speak most Sarah. I have the occasional difficulty. I think she may have been being random on purpose, or she meant to post it somewhere else.

message 313: by Khalif (new)

Khalif will you please translate what you're saying then?

Translation: I was trying to find the root of the "pouring water" superstition.

message 315: by Khalif (new)

Khalif Oooooooooooooooooooh.

message 316: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Oh! 'K. She was trying to figure out when people started pouring water on the floor in memory of a dead person.

message 317: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments Ohhhhh that makes sense!

message 318: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments So what did you find out SD?

message 319: by Khalif (new)

Khalif Don't know when they started, but I do know that it's a coustom. and you're supposed to pour alcohol. I couldn't type that, though. I would get alot more than a whippin if my mom found me with an alcoholic drink.

message 320: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments I guess nothing.

message 321: by Fran (new)

Fran (franswims) | 3422 comments Guess so!

message 322: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Yeah.

message 323: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
Didn't find much... But I did learn an interesting Russian superstition. Apparently, you aren't supposed to boast about future success. It's bad luck, and it's better to be pessimistic. I kinda do this already, because I don't want to jinx things. XD

message 324: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
Oh, also:

A stranger should not look at a newborn baby before it is a certain age (between two months and one year). If one looks at the baby it is considered bad luck to compliment it. Instead, one could say, "Oh, what an ugly child!"

message 325: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments What?! XD That's really strange!

message 326: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
Yes, it is. XD

message 327: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Man, how does humanity come up with this?!

message 328: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
I dunno... Right now my family is singing the "Muppet or Man" song and saying "We are not a weird family at all."

message 329: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Of course not.

message 330: by Jocelyn (new)

Jocelyn (joc113) | 2640 comments Not a weird family, eh? You should meet one of my friend's family.

message 331: by Sarah, The Random Nerd (new)

Sarah (agentsd) | 11810 comments Mod
'Cause weird families don't get the nickname "Zombie Family"...

message 332: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments I don't even wanna know!

message 333: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Though, my mum talks to my brother in a Southern accent when she's mad at him, and makes fun of me in the "Adam Gidwitz voice", and I randomly get British accents, so I dunno, we might tie. And we have a hovercraft...

message 334: by Khalif (new)

Khalif you do not have a hover craft. If you do, can I borrow it?

message 335: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Yah. I think it's missing a part, so we'd have to make it run, but I can't think why not. I mean, minus the whole you gotta come get it stuff! XD My mum hates it. One of my dad's "projects".

message 336: by Khalif (new)

Khalif So, how does it work? MagLev, turbines, industrial rocket fuel, jets, condensed air release? Give me something to work with.

message 337: by Khalif (new)

Khalif I'm a nerd, yeah I know.

message 338: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments I actually think turbines with a motor. I'll investigate further when I see my dad next.
NERDS ARE COOL!

message 340: by Khalif (new)

Khalif Yes they are! Anyway, the only reason I want to know is because inventing is one of my many nerdy hobbies

message 341: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Sweet! I've always been one for long mechanical talks. I'll ask my dad something and he'll give me a huge explanation and show me the parts that make whatever it is go and such. Geek talk=awesome!

message 342: by Khalif (new)

Khalif I know! I just wish that there was someone who knew about mechanics here. I fix everything. sometimes i just take things apart to see how they work.

message 343: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Ha ha, cool. I've always wanted to take apart our blender. Maybe I'll endeavor to learn a bit about it. :)

message 344: by Khalif (new)

Khalif dooooooooooooooooooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt! doooooooooooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttt!

message 345: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Gonna go look for some cool internet articles!

What else do you like to do, besides read and talk nerdy about mechanics?

message 346: by Khalif (new)

Khalif Hmmm, I tell amazing jokes, I've dabbled in the magical trickery, and I'm pretty good in chess. and you? Oh, I'm also psychic.

message 347: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments I love chess! And checkers! I like to bake. I'm teaching myself to draw. I love computers. And I just...like being not a normal middle school girl.

message 348: by Khalif (new)

Khalif kidding about the whole psychic thing. But, I am good at solving mysteries. I've been watching CSI since I could understand what they were saying.

message 349: by Robin (new)

Robin | 5442 comments Nice! I really like Sherlock Holmes {as movies, tele shows, books, anything}, Miss Marple {another British mystery solver} and most mystery books, so I can be good at the occasional mystery. And I love debates, 'cause I can usually win...

message 350: by Khalif (new)

Khalif speaking of mysteries, have you ever heard of this show called Case Closed? it's this amazing anime mystery show. I spent the entire summer watching every box set they had at the library.
