I looked up loaning out on amazon under help and it send that the BORROWER does not need to own an kindle...but it didn't say whether the LENDER needed a kindle or not...I think that's what it is...the only way we are going to know for sure is if Jody (who got a kindle fire for Xmas) can see if she can loan out books lol
