whereas I would have had a decent GPA if it wasnt for the physics and the calculus that I had to take for the Navy as part of the ROTC program...give me an essay to write and I'll ace it every time...ask me to solve a simple math equation...and yeah...

I agree... math is my vice. Sometimes it takes me awhile to understand math problems. However, when the lightbulb goes off I feel like the Grinch with that crazy smile!
It's always hard for me to come up with resolutions. Sometimes I do, but don't stick to them. I have a couple though that I want to stick to. I want to read for at least one hour each day. I also want to become more active, even if it's not much more than some extra walking, so I want to buy a pedometer to help me keep track of my steps. I figure having one will motivate me to walk more. My reading goals for the year are to make sure to complete ten percent more books than I read this year, so for me that should be a total of either 110 or 111 books. I am a part of a couple of different challenges, the most extensive probably being 12X12
I believe I will be ringing in the New Year at a friend's party, and thankfully this year I will get to be with my sweetheart, and have him for my new year's kiss. :)
I don't have any fun plans set up yet as I'll be moving toward the end of January and looking for work, so I'm focused on those things for now and I'll worry about fun stuff later. I had my Christmas fun so I'm good for a bit.
I'm really excited about all of the challenges going on here too :)
Reading a hour a day is a good thing. I know there are a few days were I say I'm too tired but really an hour is not all that bad. Set a nightly timer for an hour. I think you are on to something!

I tried it last night. One for 30 min for so when I started getting tired I would know I was half done for at least an hour. By the time the hour came I was at a good part and read for another 20 mins!
and worse case scenario, if you cant make an hour during the week, block of a chunk on the weekend...go to bed early one night, or lay in bed and read one more
I really can't wait to start these challenges. I'm furiously trying to finish up the last books for this year so I can get going on these ones!
My reading goals for 2012 is to read more books than I read in 2011. Like in 2011, I've read almost 120 books so in 2012, I want to aim higher than that.
My Reading Goals I think will change throughout the next year. Originally, the number I had in my head for the Goodreads Personal Reading Challenge was 75 books (all new to me, no re-reads), but if I complete all of the challenges that I am wanting to take part in, that will put me close to 150. So, somewhere in the 75-150 book range, har har. Which is why I started a book blog, so that if for no other reason, I can keep myself on track and accountable to my goals.I do want to try and get at least 25,000 pages read this year as well. So we shall see. 2012 will bring interesting reading for all, I believe.
I finished up 64 books this last year, where my goal I finally set at was 50. So this year I am going to aim for 75!
I think this coming year I need to work on some of the series. I started so many but never kept going with them.

The only thing I would worry about in doing that would be that I would end up putting it off every day and reading a big chunk every weekend to make up for my lost hours. There's nothing wrong with that of course. :)
I read every night. It helps me fall asleep. Otherwise, I just wait for sleep to come and many nights it never comes. Some books put me to sleep fast. Others, I just need to know what happens next until... The whole book is done. ;)
MS- I'm the same way! Not even classical music puts me to sleep anymore as fast as a book does. :)Jennifer, I agree! It shall be an interesting year indeed.
@ MS i'm the same...I had to read or I can't sleep...it just let's me relax, even if I only make it 5 minutes

I do the same thing because it's the quietest part of the day for me. And sometimes I'd like to read through the nite, but we do need our beauty sleep. LOL
I would play video games all day/night long. My dr advised me to do something else otherwise I would shave years off my life by not sleeping. So instead of picking up another hobby I dove into reading. I finished 130 the first year I set video games aside. Now it's apart of me. I just have to remind myself to read the hearty books once I settle down to sleep.
I often say my sleep problems are due to me being born on the wrong side of the planet ;)
My new years resolution is to be an awesome mommy and start checking this group again! I've been so busy I fell behind and then stopped stoping by all together
