After the novel, there is a disclaimer of sorts that states that he is fictional.
AMAZING! This book does have some fake characters but 99% are facts. Carolly Erickson is the best author!
99% facts?!?!? Why do I not believe that?
Wonderfully researched content for a historical novel, hence history (actually "herstory") plus poetic license.
Very well researched but Erickson herself calls her books 'Historical Entertainments'. There is a lot of conjecture and weaving of narrative to fit the events of the time. In order to form a more realistic idea of what happened you have to read several accounts by different authors as well as some *groans* non-fiction.
