Ahh, well. That question has a very, very simple answer, m'dear Julius.
And I'm sad to say, school has been my main cause of concern for me these past couple months.

WARNING: Rant about self ahead, so just skip to the end if it doesn't interest you. You have been warned.

I kind of got far too stressed in term 2 because of all the assignments and had a bit of a mental breakdown, and kind of ended skipping out on a few classes that term. Nerves, I tell you.
Come term 3, got a whole new timetable arrangement - so new classes, different work. Same old, same old. Not much has changed, though. Swapped out of Hospitality and Early Childhood (both subjects I was EXTREMELY unhappy with, considering I got neither of my first options) for Fashion and Art.
Come this term (Term 4), I've just been doing my own thing. :)
The last week has been rather busy, though. More of a mental exhaustion than physical, I suppose.
I guess, the worry for some of my friends is also cause for concern. It doesn't help that on top of everything else, my friend (Rachel) ended up practically almost passed out a few days ago in art (due to some sort of mental stress, most likely caused by family-related issues, I think) with a blooming high body temperature.
Not to mention Bonnie (her sister, and also my friend) is having... thoughts that make me concerned for her.
My international friend, Isa (from Holland, I think), is also very sleep-deprived right now with switching host families and all that jazz.

RANT ENDS HERE.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for me, personally? I'm still trying to muster up the courage to ask the teacher the basic questions needed to be asked, but by the time I mostly finish my mini pep-talk-internal-dialogue-thing inside my head, the bell rings and it's time for next class. I'm too apprehensive to ask even a simple question.
But, I will persevere, like usual. I'll get used to talking to people in real life, someday. Bit by bit, I shall muster more courage. (It turns out that seeing that person about my shyness was a good idea, after all. At least, partly.)
And, well, that's my life so far this year. ~ :P
So, anyway, I plan on being as active as I possibly can these days.
Let's see...
Since publishing my book, it's been a hard ride to get it out there and before the faces of people. Many make promises they don't keep, and some don't bother at all. Not only have these things been striving with my handling, but on top of that, I've been having some occasional...difficulties with my publishing platform. Things seem to be coming to an end so far as that's concerned for now, but they were not pleasant.
Within the last couple of weeks I've been in an accident (not a serious one though, and luckily I wasn't hurt), gone camping for eight days, performed in an out of town talent showcase thing, and built a bookshelf for my mother. Currently I'm in the midst of participating in an author interview for a fabulously generous website. Also, the second book in my fantasy series is taking up all of my spare time (though it's quite enjoyable to write), and the powers that be seem to disapprove of me finishing it.
That's all I can think of right now...
Well, seems like you've had a full couple of busy months, as it is. I hope everything turns out okay with the second book. I wish you all the luck with that endeavor.
But, you (probably?) know the saying - "Things have to get worse before they get better."
The interview sounds good. It's nice to know you're getting yourself out there, though, despite the struggles.
Thanks, Phoebe. I submitted the interview this morning and when it's posted I'll let you know.
But I didn't know they had that saying in Australia... What other sayings d'you guys have that we Americans share?
Honestly, I have no idea.
Although, I like to think that the American's and us have quite a lot in common when it comes to quotes.
Maybe some of these?
"All our best heroes are losers", by Richard Glover.
"It is better to be defeated on principle than to win on lies." Arthur Calwell
"Nationalism is both a vital medicine and a dangerous drug." Geoffrey Blainey
"It's no good crying over spilt milk."
"Madness is genius."
"It's like the axe that's had two new blades and three new handles but otherwise is just as it was when grandfather bought it."
"Dog must not steal from dog."
"Such is life."
"If you go out for a big night and by some misadventure you end up in a prison cell, you can count on your best friend to bail you out, but your best mate will be in there besides you."
"Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once."
"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and have their shoes."
"You may as well make the most of it while you can."
"Fed me to the wolves."
Any of those ring a bell?
Other than that.. I honestly have no idea. :)
Lol! Yeah, several of those ring bells! You're great! It's cool how so many sayings are familiar to various people the world over.
:) It's also an interesting topic, really.
People have traveled, so far and wide, in this day and age, that the chance of a saying not crossing over from one side of the earth to the other is rather thin, don't you think? Regardless of any language barriers.
"Waste not, want not," as the quote goes.
Quotes are like mottoes, when you think about it; there are so many, said by so many different people - they can be taken to heart, or discarded as mere profanity.
They can define a singular person, or influence a nation - create, or destroy.
Thing is, since there are so many out there, you've got to take the ones you can get, the ones you understand enough to quote like it's the best saying in the world.
I do believe there is a sort of... poetic beauty, behind each word, each phrase.
Now, I am well aware I might be rambling with my thoughts, so I will conclude here. One shouldn't dwell in places they should be exploring in their free time, rather than when they are busy.
Profound? Hardly. :P
If I was profound, would I not have had the mindset to not leave my film essay until the last minute, today? c:
Haha! Well, that is indeed true, Julius!
I suppose it is the way of the world, though. We give, we take, make mistakes and learn to avoid.
Well, you know what they say - a knight in shining armor is not a tested knight on the battlefield, until the front of the armor is battered and dented, and the chain-mail filled with twigs and branches, and bits of dirt!
I'm finding it really good, Julius!
Still haven't finished it on account of the whole 'no spare time' thing and the whole 'omg-I've-lost-my-Kindle-again' issue, along with the inspiration and ideas for a new book that just won't leave my brain (which I couldn't type up because the school took back the laptops before the Christmas holidays).
But. rest assured, when I finish it, I will post possibly one of the longest reviews I've ever had the chance to write! :)
There's just a lot to mention - the satisfying development of the characters, the general plot so far...
It will be (mostly) positive. if I did give criticism, it'll probably be minor picking on one tiny detail or another.
Well, since I finally found it (behind the couch for some reason, considering I never read in the living room and there appear to be books I never bought on there, so I can only assume mum and/or siblings took it from my room), I'm going to resume my reading.
Also, sorry I took so long to reply!
Finally got a new laptop for school, considering grade 12 is already hectic, and it's only 3 weeks into the first term!
It's a good thing I'm doing the BYO program, or I would have to give it back at the end of the year (though the battery life leaves much to be desired). :P
Anyway, my talking aside, I hope the new year is treating you well. :)
I am alive and swell, my old friend. I shall not perish, not yet!
There is far too much for me to do, and with such a short amount of free time, too! :)
How about you, Julius? Are you having a blast despite my long absences? :)
