I read this book during the second grade. I got to reading it because my mom gave it to my bro, but he didn't want to read it. I had Twilight, which I didn't really like, so I traded it for Tuesdays With Morrie. I started reading it and I loved it. I don't know how long it took me, but it totally changed my view of life- even in the second grade! I might read it again later in my life...
This book made me cry so much.I did not really know who Mitch Albom was before my english teacher introduced his books. One of the greatest I can say and you should check out For one more day, it's the best book he wrote in my opinion.
Happy reading.
A must read, it will teach you invaluable lessons about life. Deeply moving. This is one of my favorite books so far, i cried alot while reading this book a few years ago.
Morrie knew he himself would never live forever, so he created a lesson for all for us that would live on forever. His legacy is a lesson in how to live life when it is still in the palm of your hand, how to devour the course, and undue course, of every experience we encounter along our way.
My friend teaches this book, for character education, in the English department. I taught it , in movie form, for about 5 years for character education in the History Dept. The kids, high school freshmen ,just loved it! Years later, they still talk to me about " Morrieisms" as we called them. You remember" You can't learn how to live until you learn how to die", etc. What great reading material. My Dad died of a neurological disease, and as I read the book and movie, I always cry, but oh the lessons Morrie, and Mitch, teacher and student still continue to teach us. And it ws Jack Lemmon's final movie.
I was truly inspired by this book. I am now going to have to add "Letting Go Morrie's Reflections on Living while Dying" to my list of must read books.
Morrie: In His Own Words: Life Wisdom From a Remarkable Man - I found this book on Amazon - the book: "Letting Go Morrie's Reflections on Living while Dying" is priced on Amazon at over $100.
I just bought the dvd of the original interview with the real Morrie with Ted Koppel. Hope I can let go of the image of Morrie in the movie. I did not know of another book by Morrie. Will have to check it out. That book/movie changed my life and I think many of my students too.I will not be paying 100 for this other book however. Even though I love Morrie so much! I think he would understand.:))
good book. I wish I could have met Morrie. what a wonderful man. I just saw Mitch albom on a talk show and he said he wrote this book and had it published to help pay Morrie's medical bills. glad i got the chance to read this book devoted to his friend and teacher.
This had such a close personal meaning for me as my hero, my father, passed away from ALS in 1992.Unfortunately, he loss his voice first and our connection was thru a series of looks, embraces, and mind bending soulful attention to every utterance from him.
I've read the book a couple of times and it still brings so many memories.....good and very sad.....this is a horrible disease but Morrie reminds me of my dad's personality and THAT brings a smile :))
My dad died of Parkinson's so I had a similar, but not exactly the same experience as you Carol. ALS is worse. But so glad you can always reconnect with your dad through Morrie and can get that smile. I bet your dad and Morrie would be pleased.:))
For all the people who found great lessons in this book, that is wonderful. But, I have a question: Morrie says that marriage is wonderful because when you're dying and get scared or in pain in the middle of the night, your spouse is there to comfort you. A few months after this, his wife was a widow. Who is going to comfort her in the middle of the night while she's dying? Just one way that this book does not follow through with its reasoning.
