Trevor (skullyturtle) | 2 comments I can't stop in the middle of a page

I can only stop at pages with a 5 in them or at the start of a new chapter

I can't read two books from the same series in a row

if I'm reading an exceptionally large book I have to
take breaks by reading smaller books

If I have spent more than 2 weeks on a book I have to binge-read it and spend all day reading it

I can't dogear pages

If a book has a significant crease or tear, I buy a new copy

I don't (if I do it's only for a day or two) borrow from libraries

If I'm reading a book for school I buy my own copy and use that one...

KOMET | 12 comments Over the past year, I've set myself the general rule of reading 50 pages a day from any book I pick up to read.

As someone who reads several books on the go (e.g. from 3-5 or 6 books concurrently), I had lapsed into the habit of reading, say, 5 to 10 pp. from a book, and putting it aside a few weeks later when I began reading another book that piqued my interest. I hated that, felt like I was spinning my wheels with a book and not getting any closer to the finish. Now, with 'the 50 page a day rule', I feel like I'm making real progress with a book.
