Rebecca (rhouseman) | 2 comments I read this book when it first came out. At the time, I had just completed my medical residency. Initially, I remember being on the side of the Modesto residents. The beauty of the book sis that by the end, I had made an 180 degree turn and was rooting for the Hmong family. You could understand both sides of this medical story.

On a more important level, I think this book showed me that there (in the words of the old Chinese saying are three truths: your truth, my truth, and the real truth). I remember this book when I am taking care of difficult families and patients. I guess, in this way, this book had a profound influence on how I practice medicine.
