I've started that on my Kindle, I like it too. Was surprised at the end of that first part at how that ended.
(Which reminds me, my currently reading list is out of date!)

There is several authors on this one?? Can you tell the different writing styles??

Nothing wrong with liking Hugh Howey. Have you read Wool Omnibus yet?

It's been on my Kindle forever and I keep getting distracted but I will sometime soon. I have vacation coming up in June so I figure I can visit Grandma and then pretend I want to walk the city and read instead.

I think you probably can, but more from the way the story jumps about rather than from the style. I'm just past the end of the free kindle sample (10% of the book?) and have been through 3 separate threads with different, so far unrelated characters and themes.
Still it's good enough for me to shell out and buy the rest of it.

Ughh, not romance-y! It's not my thing.

I don't want to discourage you from reading it but the first half is about Achilles and Patrokles growing up and falling in love. Even later during the war you'll get some camp romance.
Here is my review if you want more specifics, memories of books fade with time: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

So if you two could get a move on and give me your opinions...... ;)

Can't speak for Wool but his other work Sand Omnibus is great so far (though I am only 25% in). I think worse stuff has been published so I'd try it. If you want to wait, it may take a few months. :P

Do you ever go through and weed out stuff? I go through periodically and stuff I'm no longer interested in, I delete.

I did but its not, well not so far.
very interesting magic setup. Its very historical urban fantasy.

In my humble opinion, Wool Omnibus was great. Gave it 5 stars. I'm reading Shift right now, and it's good so far.

I just did that a couple weeks ago actually. I am down to 958 on the TBR, I think I got rid of around 100. I looked through the whole list and couldn't get rid of any more than that. :)

Yeah, I got that from your review!!

No way! I obviously wanted to read them at some point. The only thing keeping me from reading all of my 3,000+ books is death. And when I die, I won't know how many books I didn't get to anyways :P

That should only take you 60 years if you take into consderation the books you will still add.....

Tru dat!

Any thoughts on The Whale Road?? You will find some of the biggest fans of Robert Low in this group! :)
I do suggest you give it more than 5 chapters. While I really like this series it took me a bit to get into the first book. I suggest at least 125 pages for a good idea of the book and the rest of the series.

It is my shelf waiting to be read, (long sigh...) I am in the middle of The Skystone. Surprisingly good so far.

Like dawn, Missy, I recommend getting at least to halfway. I am one of the biggest fans of that series and yet I nearly gave up on The Whale Road when I first discovered it. The first 100 pages or so didn't grab me much and I found them disorienting.
I put the book aside, came back to it a long time later and tried again. Fell in love with the series after that. Very glad I gave it another chance.

BTW, you can link to books on GR's by using the add book/author link right above the comment box. Instead of a third party link.

Yes Dawn I just figured that out and I think I corrected it (I think), first time reading H.G.Wells; but so far my favorite author is Bernard Cornwell. Just finished up reading War Lord Chronicles-loved them, now I expect every Historical novel to be written that well. Thank you and I'm glad to be here.

Hi Edward. Welcome. :)
I felt the same way about Bernard Cornwell when I found The Last Kingdom. It woke me up. Made me realise a lot of the stuff I had been reading before was truly second rate.
