Me, too. I read it for another GR group last year. It has a slow start, as many books of that era do. Just hang in there, because when it does take off, about halfway through, it goes like a rocket. You won't even have time to draw breath.

message 4471: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) I read the first couple paragraphs when trying to decide on which classic to go with and I think it will be great!

message 4481: by Sanne (new)

Sanne (sanneennas) | 79 comments I only have a 100 pages to go in Renegade (it's great! just as good as the first book!), and then I'm really in the mood for something South American. Searching the bookshelves (I love living with two other booklovers!) I found Eva Luna.

oh and once A Burnable Book arrives, I'm not sure I can wait until May 1 before starting, so I might crack that book open this week too :)

I don't see a bad choice here. I'm with Dawn on this: Master and Commander; the caveat being that you better prepare yourself for wanting to read another 19.5 books :D

ETA: I have no idea why my reply is intalics. I've checked twice now and my reply is not within the code.... *glares accusingly at Goodreads*

EATA: It is a GR issue. If the quote cuts off within a link (i.e. book title, author name etc) then it remains in italics. So there you have it.

The wife and I went to a Ms. Penman book signing a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed meeting and chatting with her. A true plethora of historical information is stored in this woman's mind. Got two copies of A King's Ransom by Sharon Kay Penman . The sequel to Lionheart by Sharon Kay Penman
