I've read several lately from Caesar-in-Gaul point of view, so thought I'd try the 'other side' [Vercingetorix].
The Druid King / Norman Spinrad.
I'm reading The Pagan Lord, too, next week (I cheated and took a look at the beginning already.) Curious to hear what y'all think.
Lisa, I know how you feel! I have the death of kings stored on my computer, waiting until I just can't stand it anymore. Then, the pagan lord!!!!
Hahaha, Andy, you cheeky bugger. Terri I could hear the angels calling, or shouting really. " read it and get it over with".
I hear you Nancy. Only now I'm only up to chap 2 (only reading on the train) and I already know i wish I had of waited longer. It will over before I know it and then I have to wait for ever again.

I read the first couple paragraphs when trying to decide on which classic to go with and I think it will be great!
Just started Caesars sword, the red death. Very good so far, and a welcome change after abandoning two books yesterday.
I am just finishing Sharpe's Gold, But am debating which book to read next. Was thinking of Master and Commander, Eaters of the Dead: The Manuscript of Ibn Fadlan, Relating His Experiences with the Northmen in A.D. 922 or The Whale Road. Any suggestions?

This is my favorite Wharton.

I only have a 100 pages to go in Renegade (it's great! just as good as the first book!), and then I'm really in the mood for something South American. Searching the bookshelves (I love living with two other booklovers!) I found Eva Luna.oh and once A Burnable Book arrives, I'm not sure I can wait until May 1 before starting, so I might crack that book open this week too :)

I don't see a bad choice here. I'm with Dawn on this: Master and Commander; the caveat being that you better prepare yourself for wanting to read another 19.5 books :D
ETA: I have no idea why my reply is intalics. I've checked twice now and my reply is not within the code.... *glares accusingly at Goodreads*
EATA: It is a GR issue. If the quote cuts off within a link (i.e. book title, author name etc) then it remains in italics. So there you have it.
