I finished
by C.C. HumphreysIt was pretty good, especially if you want to read about the real Dracula. My review ===> https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now i'm reading
by Umberto Eco
I am reading Bones Never lie be Kathy Reichs as on of the penultimate Tempe Brennon books I will do. I found another similar author Aaron Elkins to try Nd I have Maitland's The Vanising Witch waiting in the wings. Also got about 6 on my kindle.
I've gone back to basics with a quick whisk through Treasure Island. Last time I read it, I was a kid - I've been reading a lot of Stevenson this year, so I thought I'd pay this one another visit. It's such a sparkling read - lovely and pacey, but with just the right amount of description. It's lovely to reread it now I've got a better understanding of 18th century history, too - and I'm amazed how much has stayed with me through the years. I had a similar reaction to The Eagle Of The Ninth when I reread it after 30 years - I almost felt I had deja vu at times.
I have not been reading a whole lot of HF lately. Only 3 of my last 20 actually.I am catching up with Cato & Macro, I finished Praetorian by Simon Scarrow and I have The Blood Crows out from the library while waiting for the newest book to be processed by my library and sent to me.
I have just finished #3 in the Sister Fidelma series Suffer Little Children and the next one is winging it's way to me through ILL.
I also started a new series The Winter Queen by Boris Akunin. I really like this author, he writes very interesting stories.
The Last Romanov. Trying to forget that I ever took a Russian history course, never mind became a specialist in the subject, lest I explode through spontaneous combustion. It's fun, though—even if Ninotchka (the movie) is more realistic. ;-)
Continuing my way through the Roma Sub Roma novels with Catilina's Riddle. I just finished Arms of Nemesis and I didn't think it was as strong as some of the other Gordianus stories.
That looks good Darcy. I added it to my list. Being part Viking (that's where the red hair comes from), I rather enjoy a good Viking story.
by Bernard CornwellTaking my time and enjoying another series by Bernard. So much fun to go on another exciting adventure by him.
Having finished The Last Romanov without expiring from excessive chortling (a person born with an opal eye that fractures—are you kidding me?), I am dithering between Sight Reading, by Daphne Kalotay, and The Oracle of Stamboul. More soon.
I finished Murder on High Holborn - decent read, but I didn't think it was her best - 3 starscurrenly reading this NON FICTION one on the Battle of Waterloo
I´m halfway throug
and hm ... I love Tallis Lieberman Papers but this one ...A little bit over the top.
So I started yesterday with
and like it ... very much so far

So jealous of You. I wish there were some Cornwell books to read for me. I have read them all.

Saving It for a rainy day
I have finished:
Silk Road by Colin Falconer which was really a very good book.
Crowner's Quest by Bernard Knight A series I'm enjoying, I think the characters are getting better which is good as I believe we're at 15 books so far. And I shall be picking up the next Sister Fidelma book The Subtle Serpent soon.

[book:Crowner's Quest..."I've really enjoyed the Crowner John series as well.
I enjoyed the Crowner John series to start with, but after a while they all started to feel the same.
SILK ROAD was a group read. After reading it, Mr. Iggulden just had to learn to share my affections with Mr. Falconer. (Does he not favor a young Peter O'Toole?) Presently reading Knight of Jerusalem: A Biographical Novel of Balian D'Ibelin by Helena P. Schrader.
It was a group read some 17 months ago.....I might be a little behind there! Interesting that you compare it with Iggulden who I dislike though. I quite enjoyed Silk Road! :)
I am listening to The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Looks like it shall be some very depressing distopia, I really like it so far though!
thats a good idea dawn..but i tend to be distracted (at times) by other books ..when i am reading one..or i tend to get too involved with one..

Just finished Crichton's
, and now I'll be moving forward with another book on the Simon Fonthill series. I just started #2
The Road to Kandahar
I can read several books simultaneously but must be of different genres. Tried read 2 historical fictions at the same time and had Genghis Khan at war with Richard III!!

I tried a new series (for me) with The Unquiet Bones and I really liked it. A nice HF medieval mystery with a sound main character.
The Tiger Queens: The Women of Genghis KhanStephanie ThorntonFinished and reviewed KNIGHT OF JERUSALEM
Starting
this weekend based off of several GR friend recommendations. That kid looks crrreeeepppyyy.
And maybe this one too
because I just read a murder mystery and I like to space my genres apart. Ok and the dress is beautiful :)
