I just added Roseblood to my tbr along with a few other Paul Doherty novels. I can't figure out why that list isn't getting shorter.

I can't figure out how mine got over 1000 again either! :)I've tried four of Paul Doherty's series and I find he's a really solid 3 star author for me.
Paul Doherty really is a dependable author. Occasionally you get 4 star reads, but you know that we will get a good, reliably entertaining 3 star read.
To be honest I got because, I want a sense of her writing because I was more interested in
The Table of Less Valued Knights released this week. I got both and expect the knight one to be hilarious.

Me three! Added :)
I just started
Warlock: A Novel of Ancient Egypt...I hope this one is better than it's predecessors. I mean, they were good books, but this is my 5th Wilbur, and I always have a little trouble finishing them - I've drop them all by the middle, then I grab them up again after reading around 10 different books -. Except for the last one,
Monsoon. What a great read this was from the first page. But before continuing the Courtney's Saga, I think I'm gonna give another try at the Egyptian Series.

Diego, I read it some time ago and it was a library book, but I remember it as appalling - and I liked River God. This one shouldn't be the second one in the series, maybe the third? and I really think that if the author wasn't so famous it would have been cause of laugh, or horror, or both at the publishing house.
I really hope to be remembering badly.

I found this one along with the 4th in the series, they were both on the used books shelf at my local bookshop, so I have to read them both.
Must finish...all books on my shelf...or I'll start...brbrbrzzz...malfunctioning =P
Hey, If I could finish the abominable The Lost Symbol, I think I could go through this one...

I don't think you are. I remember the only decent one out of that series being River God.
Diego wrote: "Hey, If I could finish the abominable The Lost Symbol, I think I could go through this one... ..."Ha! You would think so, wouldn't you?
Anyway, let us know...:)
I just started Peonyby Pearl Buck. I am learning things I never knew about the history of Jews in China.

by Robert LowI looked at a quiz on Goodreads about the book and spoiled it for myself :(

Peony looks like a very good book. I'm going to have to track it down."I abandoned it. There was some important character background that didn't make sense to me from a Jewish perspective.
Just finished
, OMG that was awesome!I am also finishing up
.
is awful. The author has no understanding of ancient Greek culture at all. And the awful thing is most of the story so far revolves around that misunderstanding.
is cool so far. Its like Alexander the Great v. Mongols v. British in India (like Sharpe) v. prehistoric humans v. science fiction time travel battle royale. Off to a good start...
I am currently reading Antidote to Murder, the second book in the Dody McCleland series by Felicity Young. It takes place in London in 1911. Dody is physician who works part time at women's clinic for the poor. One of her patients was found dead of a botched abortion and Dody is accused of being the abortionist. Dody is in favor of birth control, but opposed to abortion. She must find out the identity of the abortionist responsible. In a separate plot line, Mata Hari is also a character in this book. This is a real page turner.
I had to take a break from The Archer's Tale. I keep hoping it's going to pick up and it's not. I started reading A Flower for the Queen. It's a book about botany during the Age of Discovery. It has some great characters like Captain Cook and Sir Joseph Banks. I don't really know a ton about botany (despite my biologist mother's desperate attempts in my youth) but I am finding it to be an interesting book so far.

Oh gosh, the Sacred Band of Thebes sounded interesting.
I had a very productive weekend! I finished:
Shroud for the Archbishop by Peter Tremayne
The Witch in the Well by Sharan Newman
The Care and Management of Lies by Jacqueline Winspear
Reaper Man by Terry PratchettAnd started a few more:
The Price of Murder by Bruce Alexander
Chocolat by Joanne Harris
Jane wrote: "Alicja wrote: "Oh gosh, the Sacred Band of Thebes sounded interesting."Yes, but not this particular book. The author frames ancient Greek morals and society through a 21st century lens and has no real understanding. Its disappointing.

I finally finished my NON FICTION read on the Tudors
The family relationships are emphized more that the politics. De Lisle does a good job of telling the story on Henry VIII's sisters, Mary and Margret, who both married Kings (France and Scotland).
Currently reading another NON FICTION book on the War of 1812
Bobby wrote: "I usually have 2 or 3 but they must be of different genres."Pretty much what I do, Bobby. I usually have a fiction book, & a non-fiction at home, and a volume of poetry or a novel on my Kindle on public transport.
I'm currently reading The Pagan Lord, by Bernard Cornwell. I'm only on part two, but have enjoyed every sentence thus far. It's action-packed from the very beginning, brutal, and extremely enjoyable.

I usually have a history...recent fiction and maybe a Stephen Kingish going.
I used to think I had some kind of system but it's really just whatever I feel like reading. If I'm reading 5 books about the Roman Empire...so be it. :)Usually they are at least about different subjects though.

I've been known to go on book binges, Dawn. Where all I read are books on a particular subject.
