Thanks! I'll check it out.
All the Fidelma series books are wonderful and in fact there has even been a society of Brehon law formed where people meet to discuss this very unique and surprisingly modern and equitable form of law
Finished Roman Blood, love it!In the historical romances I just finished Eromenos and The Soldier of Raetia.
Still working on Alexander: God of War and The Persian Boy.
Almost done with Railsea and Free to Be: How I Went From Unhappily Married Conservative Bible Believer to Happily Divorced Atheistic Humanist in One Year and Several Complicated Steps.
Not sure what I will be reaching for next but I was thinking The Handmaid's Tale or The Stone Gods.
It seems I'll need to check again Steven Saylor. I tried one book years ago, it wasn't the first one, and I didn't like it.Recently, though, I read Rogues and one of the best novels (starring a young Gordianus)was from this author.
Darcy wrote: "Joins in the (not so) secret group of who we read and enjoyed Written in My Own Heart's Blood"*does the secret knock* pssssst...we're meeting in the potting shed later to do happy dances and plan on how we're going to get Bobby's wife's copy of WIMOHB away from her. We'll let her keep the picture. Pass it on.

Aren't you fortunate that Roman Blood is a group read this month :D

I am! And it seems that the library actually has it (in Italian, but beggars can't be choosers..)
Hannibal: Enemy of Rome Finally got around to it, being putting it off for some time subconciously I think.......? No reason to I hope.
I think yer right Dawn, its jus been one of them books thats been on the shelf a while now & I keep bypassing it, jus always bad ju-ju in the past :)
I'm on a non fiction kick right nowJust finished Winston Groom's The Aviators: Eddie Rickenbacker, Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh, and the Epic Age of Flight
Very readable look at three of the most prominant US aviators of the interwar years.
Currently reading another NON FICTION book

It's a stand alone.. so far as I can tell. Will probably finish it tonight.
Just finished Azincourt by Cornwell, and reviewed. I loved it, one of his best books so far.Now I am reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norwell by Susan Clarke. Taking a chance on reading it but the premise interests me.

Let us know your thoughts, eh? Its been in my tbr for a while and I'm on the fence about it.
Dawn wrote: "I'm looking forward to Tower Lord, whenever my library gets around to buying it!"I almost shed a tear at paying £6,99 for the ebook version but having just finished Blood Song, I figured the Bank of Scott could support this one purchase at that price. :P
Can't order new books through ILL, must be at least a year old. And can't afford to buy new so just have to wait. :)
You should throw that book and review in the War of the Roses thread Margaret. We have a dearth of options for that era, I've added it to my TBR to give a try too! :)
I finished Sovereign. As this series moves on, these books are getting better and better. I'm now moving on to Revelation. I have no idea what I am going to do with myself with there are no more Shardlake books to read.
Back to Russia for me, Siberia in particular for the latest round with Boris Akunin's protagonist Erast Fadorin
Strategos: Island in the Storm / Gordon DohertyVery good so far; I can see how he has matured in his writing.
I have been finishing off a bunch of books, including Mormonism: The Story of a New Religious Tradition, which wasn't anything I was looking for and Out of the Black Land which was a bit oversexed for me.I've started
for my next audiobook,
as an ebook and
in paperback, as replacements. I have a three day weekend and no plans so you might be seeing a few posts about new books in here over the next three days!
I'm giving Dissolution: A Shardlake Novel another try. I began from the beginning again - mostly because for the first time ever, I recalled nothing of the first 90 pages I'd previously read. All I remembered was thinking it was tedious. I don't feel that way this time. Clearly, last time was not a good time to read this novel.
