Katia awoke with a jerk, crawling away in fear. She looked at Kalen, his eyes blazing red. "Kal, what the hell?" she said loudly, her eyebrows furrowing.

Kal didn't answer, his eyes blazing toward Dain. Who was sitting there, with his eyes still narrowed and watching Kal with a dark expression. "He's PMSing, apparently..." said Dain, sounding casual. Which only added gas to the fire, because Kal's eyes burned even brighter, but somehow deeper.
"Shut up!" she spat at Dain. "You're making it worse." She turned back to Kal, crawling over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder. "Kal, calm down," she said soothingly.

Kal shook her hand off his shoulder, but not meaning too. His flaming eyes were focused and hard on Dain. "Stay away from her." His dark voice send shudders even through him.

"What is wrong with you?!" Katia shouted at Kal, hurt in her voice. She walked off into the bathroom, filled with both anger and sorrow.

"Well," said Dain. "You done gone and screwed up now." He put on a fake hillbilly accent, pointing an accusing finger at Kal. Who only sat there with dark red eyes, staring at him furiously. Dain got up though, and stalked after Katia. Knocking on the door softly, he whispered her name. "Katia... You okay?"

"Yeah, just give me a minute," Katia whispered back to him, washing her face to wake her up. She looked at herself in the mirror for a while, seeing a completely different person, before shaking her head and walking back out of the bathroom, almost running smack into Dain's chest. "Oh sorry," she said, moving away from him and onto the couch.

Dain took a step aside for her to pass by him, which was the wrong thing to do. A waft of her scent hit him smack in the nose, smelling exactly like sugared peaches. Lord, have mercy. He headed back to the couch almost as if he were floating. "How's your ribs?" He whispered.

"Fine," she whispered back to him nervously, nodding stiffly. She didn't know why she was nervous around him. Probably because of how intimidating he looked. She curled up on the couch and wrapped her arms around her legs, watching Kal from across the room and sighing.

Kal had kept his eyes on Katia, a small amount of hurt filled his chest when she didn't come back to him. Sighing, he laid back down and gave her some space.Dain sat on the couch cushion farthest away from her, which was on the other side of it. He watched her with interest, noticing how much she looked like her mother. With a soft sigh, he gave her the ice pack.
She wasn't ready to come back to Kal. His attitude was bothering her. She rested her chin on her knees and then turned to Dain. "Oh no, that's fine. I don't need it anymore." She slightly pushed the ice pack back to him. "Thank you, though," she said, giving him a small, grateful smile.

Dain nodded and placed it aside, on the arm rest of the couch. With a defeated sigh, he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "I should apologize to him, shouldn't I?" He whispered, a slight edge to his voice.

"I don't know," she said truthfully. "Maybe he's just read your expressions wrong, you know? Maybe he's just misinterpreting everything." She chuckled to herself. "It is weird, anyway. I mean, you being interested in me? He's probably just stressed to assume something that stupid."

Dain's eyebrows drew together, as he looked at her with a sad express. "Not as stupid as you think," he whispered, mostly to himself. With another sigh, he stood up and walked over to Kal. Who was laying down and breathing deeply. "Look, man. I'm sorry. We're gonna hafta get along better if we're gonna be on this journey together."Without opening his eyes, Kal nodded. "Apology accepted then."
Katia relaxed a little when they apologized, but still felt uneasy when he heard what Dain had whispered. Not as stupid as you think. Why would he be interested in her, though? How personal did he know my mother, exactly?

Kal shifted away from them, facing the wall on the bed. As he kept his eyes open to stare and start making patterns in his head on the wooden wall. I can't believe I didn't realize that later. I need to keep Katia away from Dain... He's trouble. He felt his eyes burn bright red.Dain sighed softly and went back to the couch to sit with Katia. "So," he began casually. "I guess we can head out sometime tomorrow when this hellacious storm blows over."
"Apparently," Katia agreed. She fiddled on the ends of her blond curls, staring at nothing in particular, her expression blank. So many thoughts were swirling in her head.

Dain felt his eyebrow furrow at the tone in her voice; flat. "Look," he said softly, as if talking to a child that was crying. "He's only trying to protect you from...me. I'd be sort of grateful."

"I don't see why he needs to protect me from you. You're our ally." She looked at him, her eyebrows raised. "Right?"

Dain nodded, a smile playing at his lips. "Most certainly." Then his expression got serious. "But cut him some slack. He's jealous and protective." A shrug. "If I were you, I'd be flattered."

She sighed. "I guess. But I don't see why he should be jealous." Her expression turned sad, and she curled up tighter on the couch. "I love him."

"Well," Dain took on a casual expression, his eyes softening but becoming a bit snarky. "When you see a hot young lad like myself, one tends to get a wee bit jealous." He smiled a toothy grin.

Dain's eyebrow quirked up, his face spreading into a wider grin. "Well then. At least you stand up to me." He sighed, stretching his long legs out. "Most women usually fall to their knees before me." He snorted, placing his hands behind his head.

"I guess I'm not most women, am I?" She stared at Kal, who was facing away from her, and sighed. He looked like he was half-asleep, but he still looked beautiful.

Dain's expression grew dark, his mouth pressed into a thin line. "I knew her when she wasn't...that cold." He improvised, he knew that. But he wanted to let her figure it out on her own. To save her to heartache of knowing what her mother has become. To save her the crushed feeling he got when he found out the same thing. "She was my best friend when we were younger. And then, she just...disappeared."

"But do you know where she is?" she pressed, finally turning to look at him. "I have to find her. It was the reason I got dragged into this world in the first place."

Dain sighed with a frustrated glance at her. "She's in the Winter Court, that's all I'm telling you."

Winter Court... Her heart started to race for some reason. "Does that mean she's....one of them? The...Unseelie?"

Katia slumped back onto the chair with a somewhat terrified expression. If she's one of the Unseelie, does that mean that I'm... Even the thought of it sent shivers down her spine.

Dain was afraid of this, that's why he didn't want to tell her. The expression on her face indicated that she had clicked some of it together. "Just because you're half-Unseelie doesn't mean you're a bad person, Katia."

"But still..." I have their blood in my veins. The thought scared her still. The Unseelie were known to be soulless and evil. "Does that mean my mother's....evil?" She whispered the word.

She is now. Dain's first thought was about to burst out of his mouth, but he refrained it graciously. "I have no idea how she's like now..." His mind trailed off into the unknown void in his head, wondering how she really was now.

Somehow, not knowing relaxed her. That way it was still a possibility that her mother might not be as evil as she thought. But still, she doubted it.

Dain let out a puff of air he didn't realize he was holding. "No worries," he said. "We'll get to her eventually." If I don't kill myself in the process.

She could see the hint of a smile on Dain's face, and it gave her a very weird feeling...that she sort of liked. She quickly looked away and dismissed it, though.

Dain played with his bottom lip, watching her turn away. His smile grew as he saw a pinkish blush form on her cheeks.

Katia had no idea why she was blushing. She had no reason to. She shot a death glare at Dain's direction. Or tried to, at least. It was hard for her not to laugh. "What are you smiling about?" she said, a smile tugging fiercely on the corners of her lips.

Dain shrugged, his shoulders lingering there for just a moment, then he dropped them. "Oh, nothing." He smiled slightly, a wicked gleam in his eye.

He has a cute smile. She should not be thinking these things. She loved Kal, and crushing on resident badboy Dain was out of the question. She turned away from him, but the smile on her face was hard to prevent.

((Night night, Fauzy. :3 <3))Dain could see the faint ghost of a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. She has Arvelia's smile. At that thought, his chest swelled with a little bit of sadness that he kept bottled up for so long. It was starting to spill over.
Kal couldn't keep their whispers out of his head. He had tried making himself go to sleep. Hell, he tried humming his mother's lullaby to himself that she used to sing to him when he was a little boy. Nothing worked, though. Jealousy is a powerful thing. He heard Siobhan's voice in his head, which he tried to block out also.
Eventually, Katia had fallen back to sleep curled up on the couch. She was haunted by disturbing dreams of a woman with icy violet eyes so much like hers, but somehow....more cruel.

Kal had risen in the middle of the night to sit beside Katia on the couch, even though she was asleep. Dain had left to go outside somewhere, probably to talk to Siobhan. But Kal had curled himself around Katia, determined to ask for forgiveness in the morning. You're so stupid, being so jealous. His thoughts went rapid as he scolded himself.

Dain watched something click in Kal's eyes, almost hearing the snap in his mind itself. He frowned then, his eyes narrowing. Then when Kal's eyes turned back towards him, he yelled, "You can't have her!"
