He heard her sobbing in the room, his hand itching to open the door, but kept himself frozen. Then he abruptly turned and headed back to the living room, hearing her cries all the way there.

She had no idea how long she cried. Probably hours. But then again, she didn't understand the time in this world. I want to go home... When her crying lessened a little, she crawled onto the bed and snuggled the pillows, pretending it was her little sister, hearing her cute little giggles in her head. She let out more tears until sleep took over her.
He heard his family before he saw them. Kal quickly jumped up as his mother, brother, father, and sister all stepped in through the threshold of the house. "Mom, dad," He said nervously. They both looked at him as if he had a pimple the size of Mars, they sat the bags in their arms on the table. "There's...something I have to tell you." He made them all sit down on the couch, as he stood in front of them. "There's this girl... That's badly wounded... I picked her up and cleaned her up. She looked so badly famished and dehydrated.... She's in the spare room sleeping." He failed to mention that it was the half-breed everyone in all of Nevernever wants their hands on. But the looks on his family's faces told him to keep his mouth shut and let them figure it out.
"If she's been fed and bound up... Then I suppose she can stay here." Kal's mother's soft voice was uncertain, but he could tell that she meant it. Her eyebrows furrowed, as she looked to his father for agreement. He only nodded, and sighed. "Alright," Kal sighed heavily, he sat in the chair across from them. "She'll probably be asleep for a long while. She looked like she needed it."
Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked around, not remembering this room for a little while. But she suddenly remembered as she slowly regained consciousness. She sat up on the bed and rubbed her eyes, the events of yesterday screaming at her, making her groan.
Kal woke up to the smell of eggs and bacon. He smiled to himself, rising up from the couch he hasn't realized he slept on. He then froze as he remembered that Katia was in the spare room. Groaning inwardly, he got up, noticing the he was bare chested, but didn't care. He knocked on her door two hard time. "Breakfast." He swiftly turned away and headed to the kitchen where his mother was cooking.
She stiffened at his voice, and by the noises she heard outside, his family was probably outside. She didn't want to go out yet. She was afraid what his family might do to her.
He figured she wouldn't come out after a good hour. By the looks his mother and father gave him, he sighed and made a plate full for her. He stomped softly on his way to the room she stayed in. Pushing the door open without admittance, he looked inside her room. "Breakfast?" He held up the plate.
"No th─" she stopped herself again before she said it. "No," she said firmly, hiding under the sheets of the bed.
He cocked an eyebrow at her childish move. "Well, you need to eat something," He sat the plate on the bedside table softly, as he put a cup of juice beside it.
"I'll eat later," she said softly, sinking further into the bed. "Please.... I just want to be alone." Her voice was incredibly cracked after a whole night of crying, and she hated sounding so weak.
He nodded, respecting her wishes, and closed the door. He went back into the kitchen and sat down where his family was staring at him."Well?" His mother inquired. Her eyes looked concerned.
"She's fine, she just wants to be left alone for now." His mother nodded and went back to cooking.
Smelling the food, she couldn't resist. She sat up on the bed again and brought the food onto her lap. She ate slowly and quietly. When she was done, she put the plate back on the bedside table and sipped her drink. She wanted a shower, but she was still too afraid to come out of the room.
Kal's mother finished cooking a good, hearty meal. He ate two plate fulls of bacon, eggs, and sausage. He started to get concerned, damn him, for Katia, seeing as she still wasn't coming out. He went to her room again, and knocked ever so softly on her door.
She looked at the door for a while, but then she took a deep breath. "Come in," she said softly, but loud enough for whoever was behind the door to hear.
Kal pushed the door open a few inches, and pocked his head through it. "Can I come in?" He whispered.
She didn't see a reason to be cruel to him anymore, so she sighed and nodded at him, pulling her knees up to her chest. She winced, feeling the pain on her left leg again.
He took two long strides to the bed, as he sat at the foot of it. "Is your leg okay?" His eyes shifted down to see that her leg was still bandaged up, but he could also see that there was a thin red line going through the gauze where blood has seeped through.
"It's fine," she said softly, nodding at him, finally looking him over now. She couldn't deny that he looked infuriatingly cute.
He nodded one small tilt of his head, as he kept his eyes on her leg. Taking a deep breath, his chest filled with pity, he whispered. "I'm sorry.
"For?" she asked him, genuinely curious. "You saved me from the woods, you gave me food and drinks, you took care of my wounds, and you gave me a place to sleep. What are you sorry for?"
"The way I talked you, and gave you the wound." He sighed deeply, as he leaned forward on his knees, bracing his elbows on them. He felt cold without his shirt on, but he was used to it.
She shrugged. "I'm just a useless little half-breed, right?" She chuckled humorlessly. "Not like I didn't deserve all of that."
He shook his head in disagreement. "Your being half-breed makes you more powerful than you know," He absentmindedly placed his hand on her leg softly, warmth radiating from it. What the hell are you doing? He asked himself, but he didn't know the answer.
She didn't smack his hand away. His touch sort of...comforted her. "You don't really mean that," she whispered, barely audibly.
"But I do," He looked up at her, his eyes turning into a deep blue color. He stayed like that for a few moments, just staring at her with his sad eyes, and his hand on her leg. With a mental snap, he blinked and took his hand away, his eyes turning back brown.((Last post. D:))
((:c))She winced when he took his hand away so harshly, but didn't say anything. "Why did you help me?" she asked instead. "I'm just a half-breed. You should have just let me rot in those woods."
((GET BACK ON MSN. D<))"Because I've seen people the same way you were. My family. Friends." He said, as he clasped his hands together, looking at nothing in particular. "My niece died out in the Wildwoods. She almost looked the same way you did when I found her. Except worse." He couldn't help but take pity on the girl when he saw her first in the woods. His heart couldn't bare to see a person suffer the way his niece did.
Katia's heart ached, and her hand instinctively reached out to touch his cheek softly. "I'm sorry," she whispered, pure sorrow in her violet eyes. But then she took her hand away, realizing what she was doing. "I'm sorry for that, too," she said weakly, chuckling.
Kal's cheek flamed where she touched, igniting a fire in his chest he didn't realize was there. "It's alright," he said breathlessly. He took her hand that held his cheek into his own hands, tracing the lines in her palm. "I can tell you're kind-hearted, aside from when we met." He smiled crookedly, his half-lidded eyes shifting to hers.
"Surprisingly, I can tell you won't kill me in my sleep," she attempted to joke lamely, grinning. Then her face fell, thinking of her family again, and she sighed.
He chuckled softly, shaking his head as he agreed. "No, if I would've done. I would've done it last night." He raised an eyebrow at nothing, really. But he saw her sad expressed, and the way her eyes dropped slightly. "Missing your family?"
"You have no idea." She pulled her knees to her chest and resisted the urge to burst into tears again. "Back home, I have a father and my little sister Shana. She's only 5." She buried her face between her knees. "Words can't describe how much I miss them."
The sadness in her eyes almost threw him back a bit, but he kept his composure. Scooting back on the bed, he leaned his back against the wall. As pity for this girl in his chest doubled in size. "I'm so sorry..."
"It's okay..." She sniffled a little, and shut her eyes. "I just wish I know for sure that I can come back to them. Or at least see them one last time..." She silently cried, her face completely hidden from Kalen.
He knew she was crying, he could smell the salt in her tears as they slid down her cheeks. A wave of guilt and pure sadness hit him like a ton of bricks. "I'm sure you'll see them soon." He tried to sound hopeful, but he knew deep down that it was probably not possible now that she was this deep into the Nevernever.
"How's that even possible? How am I ever going to go back home?" She sniffled again. "The....fey who took me were attacked. I was left alone, and I wandered for probably days. It felt like 15 million years."
He reached over cautiously and rubbing her arm soothingly. "We'll find a way, hopefully. You just need to rejuvenate. Get back healthy again." He smiled sweetly at her, his white teeth shining.
"I'll need a shower, then," she said, chuckling through her tears. She wiped them away and took another sniffle before straightening up. "Could you show me the bathroom, please?" She looked down at her dirty clothes and sighed. "I guess I'll still have to wear these after?"
He stood up off the bed, and shook his head in answer. "No, you can borrow my sister's clothes. You're about her size." He smiled kindly at her, and opening the door to the room. "After you."((Last post. Dx So tired.))
((Okay. :c Night.))She smiled back at him shyly and then ducked her head as she stepped out of the room and waited for him to step out with her.
((I'm back. o3o))He stepped out of the room, and maneuvered in front of her. Leading the way to the bathroom, they had to go through the kitchen. He could hear his mother's gasp, as she looked at Katia. "She looks terrible! Oh my goodness, I'll get her in the bath!" Kal's mother took hold of Katia's arm, leading her in the bathroom, and slamming the door behind them.
((On my phone. .O.))Katia was a little taken aback by the woman's kindness. She smiled gratefully at her. "I appreciate it." She started to peel off her dirty clothes as the water started filling up the bath.
Kal's mother smiled in return, taking the girl's dirty clothes and putting them in the hamper. "If you need anything, just holler." She respected her privacy, so she walked out of the bathroom and back into the kitchen.
Katia nodded and dipped into the bath, moaning at how good it felt. She took her time bathing, making sure her body was completely clean and fresh. Once she was done, she dried herself with one of the towels and wrapped it around her body. She peeked her head out of the bathroom but didn't see Kal's mother anywhere, but she did see Kal. "Kal," she called out not too loudly. "I need some clothes."
He had just put his fork down, done with breakfast, as he heard Katia call his name. Peeking around the corner, into the hallway, he saw that she was wrapped in a towel and looking at him. His breath caught in his throat, as he stumbled out of the chair. Once he was in his sister's room, he grabbed a pair of tight hunter's pants, a tank top, along with a pair of underwear. He walked back to the bathroom, handing the clothes to her, his head turned sideways. "Here you go."
She nodded and gave him a slight smile, her cheeks red from embarrassment. She took the clothes and closed the door again, putting them on. Once she was freshened up and ready, she walked out of the bathroom and cautiously walked down the hall, looking around.
Kal was sitting on the couch, sharpening his knives as she walked in. "Hallo, feel better?" He looked her up and down, realizing she looked a whole lot better. Her hair was platinum blonde under the dirt and grime, full and fluffy. And her skin was like cream, the filthiness gone. Kal, struggling to breathe now, rose to his feet.
