In her sleep, her disturbing dreams were pushed away, and she felt strong, comforting arms around her, and then she found Kalen's eyes that were a soft pink shade. She felt herself smile, and she fell into an even more blissful sleep.

Kal's fingers brushed against Katia's forehead, pushing stray locks of hair behind her ear. He studied her while she slept, watching her in her most peaceful state. Dain wandered around the small rundown cottage, as he took over the night's watch without any word to the others. A swirl of leaves appeared to his right, and Siobhan appeared out of them. Dain rolled his eyes. Damn it.
Siobhan chuckled. "Nice to see you too, Alfrigg." She put both hands behind her head and flew in style. "How's your little crush goin' along?"
Dain winced, his lips slightly going up as if something had pained him. "It's not a crush, and it's not 'going along.'" He snapped at her. His head hurt from last night, he didn't know why. But after talking to Katia and staring at her, looking for any other resemblance between her and Arvelia, his head began to swim fiercely. Is that a sign from Arvelia to tell me to stop this journey? Or what?
"Still in denial, I see," Siobhan said with a grin. "One of the things I love about you, Alfrigg. Besides your rugged handsomeness." She repeated the thing she had done several hours ago, except differently. She disappeared, reappeared right in front of him, and then pecked his lips before disappearing again in a fit of laughter.
Dain shivered violently, his whole body racked with disgust. Goddamn it. I really hate her... He signed and went back into the cabin. He saw that Kal and Katia were both snuggled on the couch together, but Kal was still awake. He dodged around him and went into the weaponry room.
"You planning to kill him or something?" Siobhan said, reappearing near him, lounging on the air as if she were on a loveseat.
Dain kept his cool, but he felt his insides jump at the sight of Siobhan next to him. "If he doesn't try to kill me first," he said fiercely. He held a big knife in his hand, the blade was probably the length of his forearm. He sharpened it with whetstone, running the blade along the edge of it. All while looking at Siobhan with a dangerous glint in his eye.
Siobhan snorted, unfazed by his pathetic attempt at an intimidating glare. "You know the last thing you can do is intimidate me, silly goose." She twirled around in the air as if she were a ballet dancer. "I just can't wait to see you and that Kalen boy try to kill each other. And to see the half-breed have to choose between you." She giggled. "Drama is a delicious thing."
Dain almost let out a snarky laugh at that. "If Katia is anything like her mother, then she won't choose me. Not that I'm trying anyway." He added the end a bit too hastily, but it came out pathetic. "Just like Arvelia did," he added mostly to himself, but he kept his eyes down and on his knife, as if sharpening it would open to secret to world peace.
"I've got it all predicted, sweetie. You say all of this now, but I already know what's really going to happen." Siobhan winked at him. "And I just can't wait." With another laugh and a twirl high into the air, she disappeared into a flock of brown butterflies that flew out of the small window of the room. Her high-pitched laughter still echoed in the air.
Yeah, me too. Heartbreak. Dain was going to say the words, but Siobhan had already left. Letting out a sigh, he began running the knife over the whetstone on it's other side. Kal had coiled his arms around Katia's shoulders, letting her rest her head on his shoulder as she slept. He watched the sun come up, but the clouds still hovered in the sky, making it a deep gray color.
Katia stirred and woke up with her head against something hard, yet comforting. She looked up to find Kal's beautiful eyes, and she smiled, happy to be in his arms again.
Kal smiled back down at her, brushing her hair from her face once again. "Sleep well?" he whispered.
She nodded sleepily, and then buried her face into his chest. "I slept so well that I'm tempted to sleep again."
Kal chuckled softly, pressing his cheek against the top of her head. "Well, Dain hasn't come back from that little room he's confined himself in. Maybe we can't leave yet."
At the mention of Dain, she looked up at him with a somewhat sorrowful expression. She brushed her hand down his cheek. "You do know that you don't have to be jealous of Dain, right? I love you."
He sighed softly, his eyes dropping until he was looking at the ground. "I know," he began. "It's just...the way he looks at you sometimes." He shrugged slightly, barely caring to make the gesture. "I can't help but be protective."
((WHERE DID YOU GO. D: GET ON MSN.))"What, you think he's going to hurt me or something?" She smiled and leaned in to kiss him ever so softly. "He's our ally. I'm not saying I trust him, but I just have a feeling that he won't betray us."
((I was caught up on reading Shatter Me! D: But I can't right now. This is my last post for a couple hours. Gonna relax and watch a movie with mah mom. <3))"I'm scared of him taking you away from me," he whispered softly against her lips. He sighed and rested his forehead against her. "Now that I've got you, I'm scared to lose you, Katia..."
((;_; Okay. I guess I'll read. Seeya Whit~))"Hey," Katia whispered, looking at him with a loving expression. She kissed him again, softer and more lingering. "I told you, you have nothing to worry about." She nuzzled her nose against his and closed her eyes. "I'm yours."
((Just woke up. owo))Kal closed his eyes, as he melted against her as she said those words. "Promise me," he whispered softly, their lips only an inch apart. "No, swear to me." He couldn't take any risks or any loop holes He needed this girl all to himself. Call it possessive, but he doesn't care unless she's with him always.
((Oh great. -_- You get on when I have to go.))"I swear to you with my life, Kalen," she said, and she meant it. She leaned her head down and rested it right below his chin, fitting snugly against him. "I swear I'll always be yours."
((Lol. xD Well I'll talk to you soon?))"Thank you," his voice was below a whisper. He sighed softly, and his arms tightened around her the slightest.
((well I'm on my phone, which is being a crappy little bitch right now. -_- This might be my only post for now.)) Katia smiled and snuggled closer, wanting to stay in his arms for a little while longer before they had to leave this place.
((Sorry the noti didn't pop up. Dx))Dain came back into the room, unaware that they were coiled around one another. He stepped in front of the couch they were on, and dropped two duffle bags on the floor loudly. "Time to go, lovebirds." He sneered.
((Sigh.))Katia frowned at Dain for a while before sighing and getting off of Kalen's lap and standing up, still holding Kalen's hand. "Shouldn't you guys eat first?"
((:/))Dain scowled. "We can eat on the way." He held up a bag of bagels and jam. "Come along now." He started towards the door.
Katia let Kal lead the way, squeezing his hand. The sky outside was now bright, and Katia heard a bunch of noises in the woods. Some of the noises made her shudder or jump.
Kal held onto Katia's hand tightly, his fingers almost white-knuckling hers. His eyes had turned a soft red shade. Dain's attitude was going to get the best of him sure as the world.Dain hopped down off the cottage's porch almost cheerfully. He began walking in the same direction; north.
They walked for so long that Katia's legs started to cramp. As they walked on, she could feel that the temperature started to get a tiny bit more colder than before. Are we nearing Unseelie territory?
Dain could feel the temperature dropping by a few degrees. It didn't surprise him because he's been through here before. "We're almost there," he said flatly. Kal's shoulders stiffened as he recognized the territory he was now in. Unseelie Court...
Katia couldn't help but press closer to Kal. Partly because of the temperature decreasing with every step they took, but mainly because of fear.
Dain turned around a corner of trees, and halted immediately. His eyes scanned the open icy field below them. A castle covered the land, it's icy peaks and points penetrating the sky. It looks like something out of a gothic fairy tale. But blue and cold and made of ice. "We're here."
((You can be Arvelia if you want.))Katia stared at the castle in awe. Ice covered almost every surface. "My mother lives there?"
((Mmk.))"Indeed," was all Dain said. His voice was layered with hate and loathing. "Well, we had better get going there." He shivered as an icy gust of wind wiped his hair around his face.
Kal moved forward at the same time Dain did, not wanting to get left behind, much less alone, here.
((Brb.))Siobhan appeared beside the three, rubbing both her arms. "God...this place is chilly and smells like murder."
Dain sighed, but he agreed mentally. This place smelled like rot, even though it has a layer of ice to cover it.Kal's muscles tensed at Siobhan's words. Great.
((Back, but I might pull a Mishy: Be on and off.))Katia's face fell, and turned green as she caught a whiff of the air. I'm gonna be sick. She clung tighter onto Kal.
"Oh don't be so terrified, princess," Siobhan said to her, lounging on the air and kicking her feet. "Your mother does rule this place, anyways." The words blurted out of her, and as soon as they did, Siobhan's eyes widened, and she immediately disappeared before Dain could yell at her for what she had said.
Katia's face immediately drained of all color, and she almost slumped to the ground in shock. "My... What?"
((Kay.))Dain's whole body froze at Siobhan's words. I'm so going to kill that damn pixie. His angry thoughts could melt the castle in front of him. He turned around and looked at the two. "No time to fall apart now, we're almost there. And your mother," he sneered. "Probably already knows we're here. So let's go before she sends her guards after us."
Kal felt his heart jump back into overdrive after what felt like a few skipped beats. Her mother rules this place? My God... He gathered Katia in his arms and began walking forward with her cradled against him.
Katia shivered the whole way and buried her face in Kal's chest. "Kal..." she whispered. "Does that mean that I─ I'm..." She couldn't say it.
Kal was shaking his head before she got the words out. "No," he said firmly. "Don't think about it." He kept walking behind Dain. Who was now taking something out of his pocket; it looked like a scotch bottle. Not now, dammit...Dain took a swig of the contents in the bottle, then swung his arm back to hand it to Kal. "Take a drink of this. It'll cloak you from the Queen's eye, along with everybody else in the castle." He couldn't take his eyes off of the castle below them. I might die if I go in there...
Katia waited until Kal had drunk some of the strange looking liquid, and took it when he handed it to her. She looked at it for a while, hesitating, but eventually she finished it, since there was very little left. It didn't have a taste, which was also weird. She handed the empty bottle back to Kal.
Kal tossed the bottle back to Dain, who catched it and shattered it against a rock, then covered it with snow. Which there was piles of it here and there, lining the banks and got deeper and whiter near the castle. "We should keep moving," Kal said to Dain, his voice laced with worry and fear. Dain nodded and started down the bank, out in the open.
"Are you sure no one will see us?" Katia asked, her voice low and cautious. She loosened her hold on Kal, though. Not wanting to burden him or anything.
Kal kept her hold on Katia, his arm tight around her shoulders. If we survive this, it'll be a damn miracle.Dain nodded and kept side-stepping down the bank. "It should work at least," he muttered, too low for them to hear. But Kal heard. Dain could hear a sharp intake of breath from him.
Katia could see a lot of the Unseelie fey, and even if they couldn't see her, her panic still grew at the sight of them. Some of them were eerily beautiful, but most looked gruesome and bloodthirsty, their gazes as if ready to chomp off anyone's head. She couldn't loosen her hold on Kal anymore even if she tried. She hated being such a wimp and a weakling, but she was a half-blood among full-bloods. A sheep among lions.
Kal held Katia close to his side. Even though they was supposedly invisible, he still tensed when a winter fae looked in their direction, and right through them. He kept close to Dain, the three almost huddled together into a tight ball as they came up on the castle's entrance door. Kal let his gaze drift upward, to the top, which had to be about fifty-feet high. "What now?" He whispered ever so softly.Dain turned his head back to face them, a smile played at the corners of his mouth. "Now," he whispered. "We climb." He pointed up, indicating that the three of them need to climb over the castle wall to get to the other side.
