Storm (stormgerlock) This seems pretty cool. What are people's thoughts on it?

I've used it a LOT with Amazon's gifting. I can only think it will be just as nice with Nook.

I can't gift an ebook from Amazon to those friends who have a Nook. NOW I can just gift from B&N.

Storm (stormgerlock) It's good in theory, but personally, I won't have any use for it.

My friends and family don't know what type of book to get me when they go into a store, I'm not sure it will help much for it to be an e-book. They just prefer to give me a gift card and let me do all the choosing. :D

I haven't tried it with B&N, but with Amazon, if someone gifts you a book you don't want (or already own) you can exchange it for a gift cert. I had to do that recently with two books that were gifted to me. I already owned them. I just exchanged them for gift certs and will order the other books I need!

Storm (stormgerlock) Wow, that is pretty cool. I might have to look into it, if I put together a list for my friends maybe I'll actually read book that are on my To-Read list and not keep adding to it. haha

Amazon also has wish lists you can make "public" so people can actually gift me with books I want. (But I forgot to delete them after buying them, which is how I ended up getting gift copies!)

So you can probably make your wish list public on B&N and then people can browse and pick out a book (either paperback or ebook) and gift it to you. It's pretty handy. I got several much-wanted books this way for my birthday.

As an author, I also can gift my own books out to reviewers or grammy and mom!

Yes, my husband was sure he bought books I liked because I had read articles about two people and I hated the books! It's best to let them pick.

Karen (karenwb) | 45 comments I'm really glad B&N added this. It is a great feature.

michelle+8 (michelleplus8) Ok, I have been having an issue with the B&N gift feature. I bought a book as a gift for my daughter, she got the email and accepted the book, and then when she tried to open it on her Nook, it asked for my credit card information! (It specifically says it needs the credit card that was used to buy the book.)

It works out ok because I can just put my info in, but how are you supposed to buy gifts for people who don't live nearby? Are you supposed to be giving out your credit card info to friends and family just so you can buy them a gift??

That is really weird because I got a giveaway from an author that was a gifted Nookbook and it didn't ask me for any credit card information. I don't think that it is required, maybe something went a little awry. Or maybe it just needed her credit card info entered again.

That is weird. I've gifted several books and never heard of anyone being asked for credit card info. Was she logged into her regular account? Sometimes people have more than one email and when they click to accept the gift, B&N (or Amazon) doesn't recognize them as an existing customer. It can get confusing because I think the retailer expects the person "picking up" the gift to have an account.

michelle+8 (michelleplus8) Well, now I don't know what is up. The first two times that I bought my daughter a book, it asked for credit card info. Then, today, I bought her another book and it didn't. Strange.
