Cat looked around. she did not want to go into the party, but she had no choice. she took a deep breth. besides, what were her other options? she couldnt go with Erica; she had already found what she wanted. Cat let her breth out slowly.
inglades stood in the corner of the room, watching the crowd flit around him. he was permitted the great honor of wearing his sword in the presence of the king. he didn't care. his head throbbed from a lack of sleep, his muscles ached from weapons practice, and the weight of despair was heavy on him. he sipped his wine slowly, letting it sooth his pain, mental and physical. (sorry i wasn't on in so long)
Erica was so exited she didn't notice his confusion. Then she remembered why she had been looking for him. "Eragon. I need your help!" She said anxiously.
(What the heck how did Inglades get here?!?!)
((lol))Cat looked at Inglades and nodded. he was someone she hadnt seen before, but she doubted he had a higher status than her.
Stormfly flew around a castle, her scales completely white. She had no strong emotions at that moment so her scales didnt react to anything.
grayndon gasped in pain, his senses reeling as he fell away from the table where his focus tools rested. he struggled to throw off the influence in his mind, but he was battered and weak, and his defenses gave way. not good enough, a voice said in his head, originating from his trainer, standing in the far side of the room, black robes hanging around it's ankles, and a deep hood shadowing it's face. you'll have to do better. grayndon nearly collapsed as the presence withdrew from his mind, and in the split second he had to renew his defenses, a crushing wave of dark energy his his mental shield. he gritted his teeth and concentrated on forcing it back.
the next weeks passed for grayndon, learning swordplay and magic from brutal weapons masters. he could fore a mind from his head with a mere thought, and could battle the greatest fighters to a standstill. he was unlocking the greatest secrets in the flow of magic, and soon, he thought, he would be truly invincible.
((weird... actually, im not going to stop for a long period of time. im gonna get on whenever i can))
several days later, inglades stood in the central courtyard of the keep, the bright afternoon light shining off of the armor of the rows of soldiers standing at rigid attention before him. he walked up and down the line, his sword at his belt, and a chainmail shirt under his midnight blue tabard. "before the end of this tenday, we move!" he shouted, to be met with a great cheer that went up from the files of soldiers standing ready in front of him. "we will rid the world of (dragon's name here, i'm too lazy to look it up right now)! many of you will fall," he said, his face grim, and showing all too well the strain of his responsibility "but you will fall in glory, and honor, and victory! and the drake will fall! this i swear to you, he will die." the crowd cheered again. the noise grated on his nerves. later, he stood in the same courtyard, flanked by three other men, officers of the army, and captains of their respective companies."prepare your men to move within the tenday," inglades ordered. "this will be a difficult battle, but not beyond our capabilities. dismissed."
grayndon stood in the dark chamber, his muscles tense, his mind alert. he knew that this was his master's tower, and that he was supposed to be safe, but he was anything but trusting of his dark robed companion, a mage of no small power, who had taught him the art of mind shielding. he remembered well the brutal lessons of the mage, murmuring a simple incantation whenever grayndon had failed a task, a spell that would cause him wracking pain. a shadow flitted at the top of the darkened stairway, snapping him out of his reverie. he silently cursed himself for being caught off guard. he would have to work to be more alert. the shadow at the top of the stairway condensed, forming a solid shape. a mighty, immensely muscular humanoid being, with a head resembling that of a flayed bull. from his back unfurled great scaled bat wings. a mighty sword was strapped across the thing's back. "master" grayndon said, with barely concealed hate, sinking to a kneeling position. "rise, warrior" it said in a deep, commanding voice. "i have a task for you."
"what is it, master?" grayndon asked quietly. "there is a man named inglades, whom you may have heard of. you will kill him." the demon said. grayndon's mind reeled. he had heard of inglades, and the company he kept. he knew that a confrontation with inglades would probably mean a confrontation with his sister. so be it. "yes master, i will leave immediately."
((oh jeez... lets say there here and Erica is resting up in Cats quarters with Eragon in a seperate room because hes not aloud in the womens quarters, but her talking to us through one of thos things that have kind of a speaker on both ends, but u speak into it and ur voice echos through pipes to the other persons. ive tried em. they work really well))
((OKey dokey!!))Erica lay on her bed in cats room speaking quietly to her. "How long have you lived here?" she asked her
"almost all my life" Cat sighed. "i have been told i was found on the kings door step when i was a baby, which explains my wanting to leave this horrible, confining place, but i look so much like the queen im not so sure."
"Hm" Erica considered the matter. She liked cat but she was anxious to get on the road and find inglades. "Maybe thoe people were just jeolous
"i really hope not" Cat said seriously. "most rulers who had jealous people were over thrown or killed." she noticed Ericas tension, and smiled, but it was sad. "i see u are ready to leave" she said softly, her voice almost longing.
"If you really wish it you can come. I would like the company." She looked at the girl. She would make a good companion.
Cats eyes brightened. "u really think so?" she murmured. "i could come with you, if u will except me. i have... ways... of getting people to do as i ask." she looked at Erica hopefully.
inglades stood in the cold predawn light, not yet seeing any color in the bleak mountains.he saw a faint glow, and trickle of smoke from the peak of one mountain. the dragon was there. and in the dragon's hoard, was the talisman he would need to destroy du anglat.
Erica looked around. Everything was the same as when she fell asleep but there was something different too. It was too silent. Erica jumped out of bed and ran into the hall. The guard on duty was asleep. "What's going on?"
Cat shook her head. "nothing" she muttered as she made the gaurd open his eyes and stretch to look at Erica. his eyes and face were blank.
