"Gee, I don't know," Rowan responded sarcastically. "Maybe it's because I'm curious. You know, like most people are." She glared, still annoyed. "Why're you so hesitant to tell?"

"Well lets see here," Rosemarie replied with a heavy sarcasm. "Maybe it's because I reallydontthink it's any of your godsdamned business. There's a reason our files aren't posted on our doors for the public."

Point taken, Rowan thought. "Try for some hospitality, then," she growled. "Your attitude is starting to grate on my nerves and believe me, Troy does enough of that already."

"Hospitality will get you nowhere," Rosemarie pointed out with an annoyed toss of her copper locks. But what does is a bow and goddess of the wild? She considered that for a moment, and mentally shrugged it off. Hospitality wasn't something you could rely on. Artemis was. A slight prick of curiosity struck Rosemarie, but she knew that asking about the mysterious Troy would just get he the same snarky comments as she had just delivered. Probably some crazy ex that won't leave her alone. Again, I thank Artemis for the fact that I don't have these problems.

((LOL, far from, Rosamarie. Far from.))

"Might score you a friend," Rowan shot back. "You seem like you need one."

"Last I checked, no one needed friends to survive." It wasn't like anyone could replace her best and broken friend[INSPIRATION. JUST. HIT.], anyways.

((What'cha got?))

"Maybe," said Rowan, calming down now, "maybe you need to focus less on just surviving and more on life's little pleasures. Friendship is nice. Especially here."

[A rape victim would ertainly be a great victim of insanity as well, right? Rosemarie and her friend could be in the same asylum?]

This time, Rosemarie really is roll her eyes. "I don't have time to worry about friendships. Maybe you should talk to Troy about friendships."

((Rape victim?! Oddly enough I was going to make one here soon. But she's only fourteen and immigrated from Brazil, so doesn't exactly match what you said in Rosemarie's profile.))

That struck a nerve. A sore nerve. Rowan sprang to her feet, fixing Rosemarie with a ferocious glare. "You don't know anything," she said in a low voice. "Nothing at all."

[Darn. I'll post a character tie in soon.]

"And apparently, you know about as much as I do," Rosemarie spat back. Her bow was now quite wet with her own sweat after holding it for so long. Her fingers curled tightly around the weapon, her knuckles turning a bright white. Even without arrows to help her, Rosemarie could probably cause some serious damage if she needed to.

((Okay?))

Rowan shook her head. "I'm leaving," she announced, and fixed the huntress with a glare. "Think about what I said." With that, she turned and walked away, back towards the asylum.

((Fade?))

The scene was set for the Satanist. Just below the great peach tree she'd set up her things: bronze brazier, inside of which was a pile of dried mistletoe. The girl looked over at the guards, held up a lighter and smiled as if asking permission. A moment later the smell of the burning herb filled the air as Malinda set the plant alight. She took a purple candle from behind her back and set the wick to the flames, then lowered her head over it and began to chant. Chants first, then incantations, thank-yous, prayers. Blessings. All in Latin.

Isabella sat in the tree, looking below at the set up, stroking Mr. Pointy as she watched the girl chant. She better not be summoning a demon. Isabella leaped out of the tree, on the opposite side of the girl with the setup. She walked around the tree to where the Satanist was working. "Hey, chick! What are you doing?"

Malinda paused to finish her prayer, apologizing to Bathin for the interruption, and then set the candle down before turning to the girl. No time to preform her evaluation now. She had a service to attend to. "I am praying to the demon Bathin," she said shortly, "and asking for his guidance."

message 216: by [deleted user] (new)

"Demon? Girl, you're simply in the wrong company, praying to demons." She laughed, tossing Mr. Pointy in the air, catching him in prime attack stance. "Me and my friend here, we don't like demons very much."

Malinda's blue eyes instantly hardened. She stood. "Is that so?" She'd met with non-believers before--and she had killed them. Even now she had large amount of fire. Throw the brazier at the girl and watch her go up in flames. Malinda nodded to herself, appealing to the idea. Non-believers made lovely sacrifices. But not yet; maybe the girl could reason. "I believe you should calm down," she said then, coldly, "and allow me to worship as I see fit. My religion is no concern of yours."

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

She raised an eyebrow. "I don't think you understand, chica. I slay demons. Dislike is a minor term. I despise them. I don't stand by and watch innocent people put their lives to waste by worshiping them." She smiled lightly.

"What are you going to do?" Malinda snorted, rolling her eyes. "Put out my flames? I would just go somewhere else." She tilted her head, pale brown tresses spilling over her shoulder. "The gods cannot be slain," she declared. Rather firm. "They are eternal, and will always reform. My brothers, my sisters, me--we give them strength."

message 220: by [deleted user] (new)

"My dear, I would not only put out your flames. I would 'tattle', so to speak. The nurses would know you have a lighter, and would find it and take it away. If necessary, I could kill you, but that would ruin your life, and I don't want to do that." She smiled sweetly.

Malinda frowned. "Is that necessary?" she demanded. "I am not bothering you." She found herself automatically moving into an offensive stance. "Though I may start if you continue, meddlesome thing."

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

Isabella dropped her smile. "I would never dream of hurting you, demon filth." A little push was all she needed, Isabella could tell.

message 223: by Hope , I belong here more than they do. (new)

Malinda's eyes were chips of ice, and she raised her fists. "Do what you will to me, shameless fool," she snarled. "But never insult the great demons of Hell in my presence."

message 224: by [deleted user] (new)

An eyebrow raised, a cocky grin plastered itself on her face. "Oh? Where are your precious demons, little pushover? I bet I could slay them with a hand behind my back, your ignorancy."

message 225: by Hope , I belong here more than they do. (new)

Hope | 14351 comments Mod
That did it. Malinda cried out. "Ave! Hail! Hail the great gods of Hell!" She began to chant in Latin then, names, spells, prayers. Her voice rose to shrill in volume and she threw herself at the girl, punching and kicking wherever she could reach.

message 226: by [deleted user] (new)

Isabella laughed, holding what punches she got and blocking or dodging the others. "My! You're a feisty one!" Mr. Pointy struck out, to maim, not kill.

Malinda twisted just out of reach, the wooden weapon tearing the seam of her prayer dress. She simply sprang up and grabbed the brazier, and threw the still-burning contents at the self-proclaimed demon-slayer.

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

Isabella laughed once more. "Stop, drop, and roll, right?" Following the steps, the fire was out quickly, but caught the guards' attention. "Stop her! She has a lighter!" The words were pitifully shrieked out as she smiled at Malinda. "Have a nice day, filth."

As the guards ran up, Malinda just smiled. "The gods will punish you." And then she dropped the lighter into the brazier and knelt to blow out the candle, using the bronze bowl to scoop it up too. She let the guards bring their nightsticks down on her head, her arms; let one take out the syringe and drug her. She would get her things back if they ended up taking them away, she thought as she fell gently back into the arms of one guard. For she knew what the others didn't: a friend was coming back for her.

message 230: by [deleted user] (new)

A smile, a flirty, "Thank you! Gosh, I thought she'd kill me!" And she turned to head back in. That's taken care of.

((Fade?))

((Fade. She's hardly taken care of.))

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena lean against the tall, willowly bark of the peach tree, eyes flickering with amusement as she simply watched the others milling about, curling up in hushed insanity or breaking into full attacks. It could be considered amusing. If you were loathe for boredom. Her fingers, pale and light, slipped into her pocket once more, drawing a worn novel.

Raven was perched in the top of the tree, balanced precariously on a thin branch that was barely holding his weight, and only because he was keeping still. He glanced down, eyes fixed on the top of Lena's head, amusement making his eyes gleam--he'd been watching her for a while and she didn't even seem to know it.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Tugging her look away from the insanity driven teens, she bent her head to peer at the words littering her pages, ink spilling over the light parchment. It provided her comfort, though it didn't seem to do much for others. Figures. None appreciated literature anymore.

((I must depart, post more tomorrow.))

He laughed quietly, very quietly--the sound little more than a few light notes carried by the wind. For all the unaware would have known, it was the wind. Raven didn't move at all, just content to sit up here and watch the words flow out onto that blank page. From up here, he could almost make them out, if he squinted.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Now, many underestimated Lena's ability to detect things. When she had lived at home, she was forced to listen for her parent's arrival, or where they walked about to avoid running into them. Therefore, she was able to elude any beatings or such her parents aimed for her. A twinkling of something rang above her. Even if it was simply the wind dancing above her hair, she still looked above her, the notebook snapping shut with an audible final. "Raven, why are you sitting above me?" Lena called, her lips pursing in slight reprobate.

"I like trees," he called down, grinning.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "Were you reading my notebook?" Her voice lilting with light accusation. Her usual scowl weaved its way into her now stormy blue eyes. Blue today. There really didn't seem to be a pattern of the color change to her eyes.

"Nope." Gingerly Raven made his way down to sturdier branches, trying to focus and look at her at the same time. "I was trying to, but you write too small." He stopped about midway down the tree, moving to lay up in a fork in the branches. He could nap up here, maybe, if he got tired enough. It would be nice, sleeping up in a tree. It's not like he could go back to his room; not after that girl. Not after the breakdown.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "And why do you think that is?" She shifted to her other foot, eyes still cast at him. "So people can't read what I wrote."

message 241: by Hope , I belong here more than they do. (new)

Hope | 14351 comments Mod
Raven shrugged. "I figured," he said. "But why? What's wrong with other people reading your writing?"

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) Lena moved back to better see his figure, perched up on a branch. "My notebooks are what got me in here. My writings are what brought me here." She said rather darkly, frowning.

Raven laughed. "What can you possibly have written that would land you in an asylum?" he demanded, laughs subsiding. "They're just words, after all. Nothing incredibly dangerous."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "I needn't tell you Raven. Tis not your buisness." She scowled at him, leaning her thin figure against the tree once more, clasping her fingers together.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) ((Hello?))

"Fine don't tell me. I'll just find out by myself." He shrugged, turning his eyes up towards the sky as if he didn't have a care in the world.

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "Will you? And how will you go about doing that?" Lena inquired, peering at him carefully.

"I'll hack the files," Raven said. "Read yours over again."

Tea in Chapter Three (teainchapterthree) "Will you? I could do that for you, find out your real name." Lena said, bending her head to study her boot clad toes.

"Didn't know you were tech-savvy," Raven said, glancing down at her. He wasn't worried, not at all. If Lena found out his real name, so be it. He'd make sure she didn't repeat it.
