Clarify/Correct Author

Changing the author name to correct short stories that had been added, changed all, as it said. What would it have been better to do? I did read the manual and look at discussion groups before doing so, and am wondering what to do now to disambiguate.

Zoë is not the author of the books listed below.
I guess that the other Zoe could be without the ë? Children's books, literacy guide.

Is there a way if you search Zoe Sharp that Zoë will come up as well? It would be good if searching on Zoe could bring up both, especially because Amazon doesn’t use the ë. I am happy to edit it if you could let me know how, if possible, and apologies for any inconvenience :)

K, I just did a quick check on the books you listed and both WorldCat and Library of Congress list her as just Zoe Sharp. Obviously, Zoe without is a children's author and will need to be disambiguated.

I would check with WorldCat and not rely on Amazon if in doubt in the future.

I've disambiguated for you, but for the future, here is how to do it:

Go to author edit page and on the right hand side you will see a disambiguate link, then it is just a matter of putting in the new name at the top and selecting the books you want moved to the new name.

I'm guessing it that's useful to know in future with Zoë's new books, as Amazon catalogs as Zoe (without the special character).

I'm still learning to 'see' things on Goodreads, and really appreciate the recommendations, and book info on the site.

I hope it is ok to contact you again. More Zoë Sharp books have been added under Zoe Sharp, and when I followed the instructions to disambiguate, (putting in new author, even though Zoë is not); it told me (of course) that an author already exists by that name... any suggestions?

If there aren't a lot of books to switch over, it may be just as easy to edit the author of each individual book.

If there are a lot of books, I usually disambiguate to a temporary name and then merge the profiles. To do this:

Follow Sandra's disambiguation directions, but disambiguate to something like Zoë Sharp Temp. Then go to the Zoë Sharp Temp author (you should get a link at the top of the page after you disambiguate to send you there), click "edit data" in the author profile box and remove Temp from the author name. Make sure you merge to the one with the picture/other information and you'll be good to go. :)
