Who would you like to see cast in the film?

I think that Laura Linney could do well in the lead role....

Can't wait to see the movie. Hope they don't do an Under the Tuscan Sun job with the movie so the only recognizable resemblance to the book is the title. This book absolutely begs to be made into a movie.
I'd like to see an unknown in the title role, so the story is the star.

It is a perfect novel to make into a movie!

I've read this book again after a few years so I could revisit the characters. So glad I will be able to see them come to life in a movie!

I also just came across IMDB showing Kate Winslet as Julie(typo or are they calling her Julie for the movie?)
Now who will play Dawsey??

Great read, Cate Blanchet & Kate Winslet would be my pick

Great book. Can't wait for the movie

Excellent! I completely agree with Kate Winslet. Is Maggie Smith available? Jude Law? Round it out with Derek Jacobi, and I'll be at the premiere.

Oh I am so glad to hear about this! I bet Branagh will do an excellent job! Thanks for posting this info!

I can see Honeysuckle Weeks as Juliet, though not what I imagined when I read this book. I have been watching Foyle's War (what a great show!) and would love to see her in a movie.

I'm so pleased that this is going to be made into a film. I loved the book and spent a fantastic holiday on Guernsey in the 70s. It'll be like revisiting it. Can't wait for it to come out! I don't mind who plays Juliet but Kate Winslet would be good. Song of the Phoenix

I think it'll be interesting to see how they would portray the ongoing back and forth correspondance between the characters, and manage to make it novel yet still maintain the essence and heart of the book.

So excited! I love Kenneth Branagh's films

Can't wait :)

After reading these comments, now I will definitely be re-reading this wonderful book. Have to refresh my memory of the characters so that I can suggest a cast for the movie. Isn't it interesting that all the above comments are in favour of a movie of the book

I loved the book! I am excited for the movie as well but am a little wary. Hollywood always seems to destroy the best stories (Ella Enchanted!).

Ahhh! That's amazing, I can't wait to go see it!

yay!!

So excited that this is going to be a movie. I thought I would hate this book but I loved it. The characters are so interesting and the story is the best....Juliet Emma Stone?

IMDB shows Kate Winslet as "Julie Ashton"

This was one of the most captivating books I have read. Wanted to so live there or go there or never finish the book. Have little faith in books to movies. Maybe one of the Downton Abby women. Just crossing my fingers. Good to see others enjoyed it also.

Looking forward to seeing the movie...I loved the book! I think Emma Thompson & Kate Winslet would be wonderful.

While I was reading the book I thought, "This would be a GREAT movie!" I pictured Kate Winslet as Juliet. English actors are so colorful, and an interesting and talented cast could be assembled. The island will be a beautiful setting for the movie.

Very curious how (and with whom) they will make this wonderful book into a film!

I know that Emma Thompson is divorced from the director and maybe too seasoned for the part, but I would love to see her.

Very exciting--I agree Helena Bonham Carter & Kate Winslet would be great. And Cate Blanchet is always impeccable.

This will make a brilliant film, looking forwardto it

I am excited to hear this! Loved this book. Maybe Kate Winslet for Juliet. I also agree Helena Bonham Carter would do a great job.

Wow! I was really hoping this book would be turned into a movie.

After seeing her truly ACT again in The King's Speech, I pictured Helena Bonham Carter of all people in the role of Juliet Ashton. Loved the book. Can't wait to see what Mr. Branagh has in store for the movie.

I was hoping that would happen. This is one of my favourite books and usually that would mean I am passionately against watching movie versions. But this! While reading I remember thinking that it would make a delightful screenplay. Fingers crossed!
